And will you send it out with harnesses etc? It’s a bit of a minefield tbh, I’ve had a few mewps over the years and hired them out occasionally (you become everyone’s best friend once you’ve got one in your arsenal!). Looking back I realise that we were probably sailing a bit close to the wind sending them out without operators (we had them for our own work, hire wasn’t looked for and was a very secondary revenue stream).
They are handy to have though, and like an owned digger you end up using them a lot for jobs that wouldn’t really warrant hiring one for the limited use it requires.

No questions asked dropped it off no harnesses or questions about tickets...(I've got scissor ticket anyway, my forklift guy does it as an addition to forklift ...lol 150 quid for a morning)

So surely it's not that risky if youve got a disclaimer?

We've had scissor lifts out a lot putting the acoustic enclosures in. Never had to show a ticket (which I did have, will need to before renew next year for a job in a power station) to the hire Co, only ever customers for their rams/records.
But, like all these things, it's OK till it isn't....

at the end of the day, if/when it goes south, it's the owner's door they'll come knocking on .... the potential to kill is huge ... the risk is proportional to that ... I don't mind heights in the slightest, but these things are not the most 'comfortable' things to use even by a qualified op.

If it’s lolered and the hirer has signed to say it’ll be used by a trained competent operator only, how is it any fault of the hire firm?

Sactly...these days the amount of warning labels plastered all over a mewp must cover pretty much every eventuality...except starting and moving the fekkers...all have their own quirks.

There are two things I've no interest in getting involved with, cranes and MEWPs.

Both could easily earn me good money and both I've had enough chances to buy (I do own a baby scissor lift.)

MEWPs have the potential to kill more than anything else...... They also tend to wind up being used badly in public areas where best case a photo gets taken and worst case someone gets hurt... The reason IPAF gets pushed by the hire industry more than any other ticket I suspect is they know it's only a matter of time before HSE outright bans hiring them without a operator.

I'd keep it for your own use .... Disclaimers work to a point and I'd argue it would protect you from liabilities to the hirer..... However if a accident happened involving the general public I would say there would be a argument of lack of due diligence and failure to protect the safety of the public from HSE
