Reading about the Euston leg tonight...budgeted at 2.6bn now saying 4.8bn he's canned it unless private investors dig in...how just how...2bn quid just stop for a minute and realise there's some almighty pisstaking going on.

Rishi might be a twat but he's not totally thick ....what the heck info he's had we aren't seeing that suggests it was only going to go one way.

Something needs to change on public sector projects. What's the answer? All I see is huge leach type companies utterly screwing the taxpayer...forced labour for dole scroungers?

And to make it worse had a letter from dentist yesterday saying no more NHS- have to go private. Don't have a problem with that but let's keep tax rates accordingly. Same with people who have s**t loads of kids- have them if you want but your paying for them! Perhaps a discussion for another time

i remember back about 10 years ago derby city council had 16 lads on the roads maintenance gangs, they used to have 4 subby 3cx also. last time I was there they’d off hired all 3cx which made it more office staff than working hands!! And that was obviously only a tiny area they operated, I can’t imagine all the office staff HS2 employ!

If they started with awarding tenders to companies on merit, rather than who's mate they are
Once they start, cut down on BS, and all the leaches that life on it all. Making contractors join this scheme or other to work on it, costs all pasted on.
The budget when media visits must run into mega figures with all the new spotless PPE handed out
