We have a 3t dumper at the moment , ive have been wanting a 6t for a while now as we can move it on the truck anyhow our present 3t is a terex swivel tip which is a bloody awful shape but being a swivel makes gravelling up trenches easier than with a straight tip, reasonably often we dig out of the dumper to sand up trenches etc and more then ever now we can place it better with the tilty, unfortunately the scandi 1200 is a really bad fit in the terex skip shape, so I was wondering if a 6t terex will take the 1200 bucket better or are there better shaped 6t swivels ? I mean a 6t straight tip would be a great shape to clean out with the scandi but it would be a shame to have to give up the swivel.
Anyone run a 6t swivel ?

We’ve a 6 ton straight tip but hired 6 ton swivels a few times they’re a nice size but are tricky to clean out off with bucket reversed.

Ideally though you can tip into
A reversed grading bucket on 16 ton with 6 ton swivel thwaites certainly speeds up decanting.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
yep weird shaped skips for sure, especially the radiused backs ... 6t Thwaites Alldrive ... go anywhere though and the swivel is a must have IMHDO
went up there full to the gunwales and tipped over the back side no sweat

and can always point at the bucket edge to get it properly full

Whilst I own a little swivel, when I hire something bigger I ask for straight tip now. More capacity and easier to dig out of. Be brave and go straight tip Furniss! The days of tipping too much shingle in trench's trying to be clever by using the swivel dumper are gone. You're in the precise world with a tilty now. ;)

TBH we have got tipping the right amount of gravel in with the dumper down to a fine art, we used to dig it out of the dumper and put it in trench with digger but its slower and means a digger at the stockpile and one at the trenches to be efficient, we're using the other diggers a lot less now we have the 6t and tilty so often only 1 digger on the job that goes to the stockpile when we start gravelling up,
but I agree that straight tip @ 6t is the way to go 👍 with some nice flotations.
If someone sees the right machine at the right money ....budget 3k 😉
