Low loaders

My thoughts. The other thing is it’s only 10mm chain. I put more on to do internal moves.

You don't have to do cross chains, it isn't compulsory just recommended. What is compulsory is to stop forward reward and sideways movement. This can be achieved in many ways. He is up against the step so that will also be part of his load security.
What they don't like over track chains. The same chaining system over the track frame would be considered much better as would correct positioning of the binder.
I got pulled into vosa with a 13t excavator on. I had 2 chains on, one front one rear over the track frames at a slight angle pulling backwards forwards against part of the track frame, binders where between tracks, And a strap over the boom. They where only checking load security and tacho offences that day so got plenty of scrutiny. They where more than happy with it, as the machine was secured in all directions.

Some of the hauliers that come in to us have it in their method statements to cross-chain, and they have to photograph the load after they’ve lashed it. Seeing this more and more recently, especially with the bigger companies. As you say, it’s not a legal requirement but it’s a recommendation and it’s certainly a good way of stopping lateral movement.

Here is another of today's stupidity. I get that the blocks of wood should be secured but who the hell decided telehandlers need chocks.

That’s the bit that seems to have changed in the new guidance. Chocks or blocks.

It's not the best but if you are driving hard enough with a d6 on to dislodge it your a twat.
Average speed of most wagons on the mway network today was prob 30mph I bet
Kin grockles galore.
Wouldn't have minded seeing a D6 on a fibreglass tent 😖

I wish I could have a job sitting in an office making up rules with no practical experience and seemingly little in-depth industry knowledge whilst being over paid.
It really seems that they don't want anyone to work anymore. There is a shortage of lorry drivers so they are going to further drive them away and make those that remain spend more time fiddling with straps.
I see also they have decided that ibc's require 2 straps each done up less tightly to avoid crushing the ibc

Wish there were more women in construction. Our lass always has looks and comments usually really positive along with a bit of amazement when driving a machine or carrying stuff

Just caught this picture of Mar-trains new Volvo Bull nose this morning, heading to pick up a screener from Anaconda. Think its one of its first jobs.
