Local gun club over here has a fair range setup and you can pretty much get whatever floats your boat - handguns or big stuff.

Yep. They're the same as any other section 1 thing from a black letter licensing perspective. Good reason and an absence of vitiating circumstances is all you need. There are plenty of sideline inconveniences though: high muzzle energy range regulations, gun club committees who think they're the law, licensing staff who think they're the law, MOD ranges not wanting civilians on them etc. I think there are other clubs who have good enough relationships with MOD range people to shoot fifties, just the FCSA is best known. There are certainly places to shoot things like 338 and quite possibly fifties (Gardeners and the place in Wales).

A brand new tyre only fitted the day before with foam fill
ran over a piece of steel that I had cut with the shear and cut the tyre in half
so £245.00 for a new tyre and £500 to get foam fillednot a bad days work

this came from Mynnyd Epynt ranges 'bout 30 years ago ... was up watching some rallying and had my 320 SWM Gori with me. was wandering about looking at some self propelled howitzer type things, in the middle of no where, that'd been 'severely abused' and were full of holes .... caught my foot on it as I pulled up .. got off and there this thing was ...... took some bunjee-ing onto the Renthals .... but it was coming home and was way too much of a lump in my small trials back pack.
's a bout 15-16 kilos

Finally got some decent internet!! Airband recently ran fibre to premises so have taken advantage of initial offer £25/month for 150down/50up

paid for itself the day it got the fire brigade out to me on the M4, in my Demag 30t crane, with a fire under the bonnet when a fuel line burst ... I'd just about gotten on top of it with my halon extinguishers, flask and a bottle of tango
but was real glad to see 'em come tearing up behind me.

Don't complain - suggest what's better
I'm amazed anyone can get a licence for a 50 cal in the UK. I can't think of anywhere off hand that has a range licenced to allow 50 cal to fire.

was the bollox for oil fires .... totally depletes/eliminates oxygen from the fire seat. ... IIRC it was deemed carcinogenic. .. I still have a few too .... had two or three on each of my cranes ... only way to deal with a fire properly
IEP Doncasters in Blaenavon (big forgemasters/section/ring rollers) I did a lot of work in/for .... they had a BIG machinery cellar full of hyd valves/pumps/motors/etc. under the main shop floor ..... 'bout 20ft deep ... had to go down in there one day with one of the maintenance guys, who I knew very well. Tells me to pay very careful attention to what he's saying as we go down in .. every 10 ft on the walls are respirators in pairs ..... dozens of 'em ..... tells me that if the fire alarm goes off in there, we have 10 seconds to get one on ... before the cellar is flooded with halon ....
was a very nervous half hour down there looking at the job.

Just googled them and they advertise you can fire 50 cal. The cleared danger area with no human access for this sort of firing a huge. They must have a way of sealing off vast areas.
