Out of the office for a change. Oil tank base today in lovely dry stone free soil. What a rare treat. Customer had another contractor on site who wanted the soil so we lost it in his 2t swivel which saved a lot of muck truck work. Had to add some grease to the tracks for the first time ever. Very pleased with the Milwaukee greaser. Machine gets a squirt everytime its used now whereas before it was something to do tomorrow. Every 8 hours isn't often enough.. I greased it thoroughly 3-4 hours ago and it's been out in the rain since, todays greasing
pushed water out of a few places that water shouldn't be.

I went today too although I watched from a campsite adjacent to the runway as a group of friends were camping there. I left before the b52 went up though as it was a fair drive back to suffolk.
My first ever visit but I will go next year and buy a proper ticket to support the event properly. I have never seen an airshow put on such a display.

My in-laws live in fairford so got me a ticket for Christmas. I left as the b 52 took off. The plumes of black smoke out the back was ridiculous.
They had a static one with the bomb doors open you could walk underneath.

Great day out.
Not been for years always seem to miss it! Last time I went we managed to get on a USAF tanker / transport plane very few were allowed on. At the time it was 2nd largest plane in their arsenal. Sat in the refuelling pod at the rear of the plane. I think the guy said the glass was largest piece in any plane and was around 8 inches thick.
Also got another story from many years before putting a Bailey bridge up across 1 of the roads fun weekend that was

Yes I guess a quick visit doesn’t show you the negatives. However I thought the countryside looked fantastic. Just how suffolk used to look before the massive housing developments started swallowing the countryside up.

I’m only 47 (only
) but I often find myself saying I remember when all this was fields as I stare across a housing estate or massive industrial estate going up. These fields can’t be turned back to useful arable land.

Yeah lovely countryside. And the planes are cool to watch even if you do live there.
The b52s aren't that common just a bit of a shock but not to often.
Their house is underneath where the jest turn during the displays so louder in there living room than stood in the show watching.

I guess when living there you just embrace it.
I grew up in the flight path of Raf Wattisham when the lightning’s and phantoms were there. Very often saw flights at speed as a lad and it became the norm. I was quite sad when the planes left and the Apaches arrived. Rarely see them

I live on the Surrey Sussex border, in the last 10 years Crawley and Horsham have gone from two towns separated by a couple of miles of farms to all but touching. The remaining land has been sold, so just waiting for it to become one town now

... offered him the asking - never bid a bargain - was a bloody good price for Aber. - top rung of the ladder - first to see it - couple divorcing chatting with him and he has a house on their books which I lived in, in the late 60,s ... wants me to go with him and explain how it was laid out before some cowboy B&B-ers balls-ed it up ... was a lovely 6 bed, 3 storey place when my parents bought it. Having seen the pix recently, they've made a mess of it.

our 'noisy bast*rds' are the Ospreys, lately ... used to be the 10pm Herc.s rattling the ridge tiles and the 8 am Chinooks, that looked like they were landing on the lawn
