Thinking of trading the Hydradig in for a 8-10tn tracked machine. It’s got an Engcon on it and not sure wether to sell as a unit or remove and put on new machine? Also jury’s still out on what track machine to get so any input gratefully received. Work stream is mainly site groundworks.

Thanks, it’s a great tool on site for everything except digging in harder ground. It will do it but it’s slow and you can’t horse it out like you could in a 8tn tracked machine. This is partly because I got it second hand with the original dipper which I then put an Engcon on with scandi style digging buckets. With a short dipper and standard buckets it would be a lot better. Also driving a duck is a completely different ball game! Everything has to be done slower and steadier. If I could afford too I would keep it for everything else on site though. It’s great for moving gear with forks, sanding trenches, compacting and grading. I also have a 6tn trailer so you can load that up with material/kerbs/chambers/attachment and off you go. (Not on the road obviously)

What has it been like for reliability? You hear mixed reports about them.

No issues with the Engcon and I would be having one on the new machine, wether it’s the same one or a new one. Just thought it may sell better as a package and save swapping it all over. I need to work the figures out for the swap over to honest so I can make a better decision.
