Plant trailer choices.

you will still be well beyond the load rating of the tyres on the overloaded side

Most likely but what I'm saying is ifors and all there components are very well proven to be capable of well above their rated capacity.

I don't think that the imbalance would be that extreme🤔

The load is carried between the pairs of wheels not directly over them. The spider could be 1200kg one side, 600kg the other.
The dumper could be 600kg one side , 300kg the other. 1200 + 300 = 1500kg versus 600 + 600 = 1200kg

Rough back of the Rizla paper musings .....it would be interesting to try the combination on the weighers 🙂

What he said. I don't think it'll be that bad.

Spider is only 600 wide and tracked carrier 700 wide so I may be able to position my central lashing points off to one side 100mm or so then bump everything over to try and centralise the weight. I will draw it out on some paper.

Just do it mate, the alternative is the put them behind each other on a longer trailer and that’s asking for trouble.

Has anyone used a ct66 or the tb version?
I fancy changing to one of these so i can carry cars as well as small plant/agregate and whatever else.
Their not cheap though at £5500-£6500+ vat and are another meter in length so im not sure what their like to live with.

I’ve got an older ct166. 16ft long, full width ramp. Never used the sides but came with them. It tows nice and is a good all rounder, I mainly use it for the compact tractors and implements. I keep thinking about trying a gh146, it’s a triaxle version of the gh1054 and 14’ but just know it wouldn’t fit some tractor/implement combos.

Update. I am still ruminating about this. Spider Crane isn't getting used much as oil tank sales have calmed right down. We were doing 100 a year in 2018 and turning work away. Oil prices + cost of living + constant media about electrification (heat pumps) has calmed the replacement heating oil tank market considerably. Doubt we will do 20 this year. One of my time served lads (8 years since leaving school) has trotted off to do his own thing, so I'm busier on tools than I was, so less crane play time as well. My Hiab Trailer is a keeper and involves less paperwork and does most of the work, so I am considering selling the Spider Crane on to someone that will use it more. It makes me want to cry as it's the most ultimate man toy I have ever had! Not 100% decided yet and may yet change my mind (But have paused on buying another trailer as apparently 4 is enough)
We are much busier with the Hot Water and Heating side than ever and the experience and quals of my team have increased, and it seems to getting harder to charge heating engineer prices for groundworks projects. Maybe not a recession but definitely a subtle shift in work levels. Still can't keep up though...

Update. Spyder Crane went off to a new home at the weekend. Sold it with my GD84 trailer. Actually made a wee bit of profit on both, but by the time I’ve bought a new plant trailer to replace the GD84 it will even up. But I have had the use of the crane on some jobs and cost me nothing and the use of the trailer as well for 3 years and ending up with a brand new trailer and not out of pocket…. I’ll take that as a win 😁
Without the crane I don’t really need the width of the GH1054BT so looking at the GH94 or GH94BT. Only 2.7 ton, but I don’t see that as being an issue and as getting pulled often by transits with 2.8t capacity it might be the sensible choice. There’s a couple of near new used ones kicking about the southwest so maybe an option. Choices!

GH94 is a good trailer, if you will be running it heavy (and I don’t mean overweight, I’m talking about carrying 1.5 tonnes plus on it) I’d recommend upgrading to double leaf springs and keeping an eye on your bumpstops as they get smashed off and then the single springs snap (talking from experience here).
There is a ‘GAP plant’ version which comes as standard with the heavy duty 13 inch wheel/tyre options (same as the GH1054) and also double leaf springs - if buying new I’d suggest going for that one.

Thanks for advice.. I’ll check out the option of GAP plant . Sounds like it might be worth going for the GH1054BT then if I can. My E10+buckets+mucktruck+ kit is 1.5 plus..

The GH1054 is a nice size. Still 'small' behind a pickup, plus you have the option of moving a 2.7t machine should you need it.

I have both the GH1054 and the GH94, the GH94 is way too small for a micro plus muck truck and kit. The slightly wider GH1054 will easily fit a micro and muck truck side by side, leaving plenty of room at the back for other tools, wacker plate etc.

I used to fit the Micro and muck truck and whacker in the GD84. Was a pain in the ass though! Very occasionally I might want a track barrow so would be nice to get one side on with micro.

Picked the new trailer up today , had it all hitched up and lights tested, then had to do a last minute swap as they had a different serial number on the invoice. Lights didn’t work so had to swap the pigtail lead. Brought it back to site then noticed all the side wiring hanging out both sides and a broken clip, plus the tail gate latches don’t really line up very well. Never bothered checking a new trailer over before - looks like this one might not have been checked over before I took it . I’ll call them tomorrow. I’ll check everything next time 🤣

The side wiring is normally held in place by rubber bungs that are wedged in under the lip where the cable runs. Perhaps the bungs hadn't been pushed home properly,
Tbf the tail gate latche can need a slight giggle to line up properly. The tail gate has a small amount of side to side movement on the rail it's mounted on so perhaps just needs shunting accross a bit.
Who did you buy it from?
