Yes shuttering always wants to be a lot stronger than you think I like to bury it with a bit of stone around the edge if it's dodgy the wavey edge isn't anything to worry about too much it can always be straightened with a sthil saw I'd let him put the carport up then put one of the resin screeds on to level it up

Thankfully my other jobs have been going well like normal!

I rented a saw to cut off the bad side and I wasn't that good at that either. Lol. Saw only cut 4.25" deep and there is a 12" wide and 12" deep footer around the edge. I under dug that side of the slab then I used my post driver with a cut off 6" post to break the edge off. Worked amazingly well.

So my concrete saga continues. I broke off that side and had someone else lined up to pour and repair...they were taking to long so the neighbor got a 2nd 3rd 4th and on and on opinion. F me! Now that side is being poured with a 3" layer over the whole 36x25 pad with me footing bill.

I've done alot of work for them over the years all at almost half price compared to what I normally charge. I reminded him of that and he told me his wife called around(describing the work done, lol) and they were told I've actually overcharged them for everything. The other companies haven't even seen or been to the job site!

I've learned my lesson, don't give discounts, people don't appreciate it! Pray for me I'm kinda pissed right now, but sticking to my word and making sure the pad is correct even if I lose money. 🤑 Trying to laugh to keep from crying. Lol.

Whenever I've done favours they're never reciprocated either. Leaves a sour taste.

To quote the wise words of my grandfather “you pay to learn, boy......” and I’m afraid you are 😔

People can be quick to forget your previous efforts when things go wrong, get this ordeal over and done with as quick as possible, wipe your mouth clean and move on 👍

It's been a while since I logged in here an just thought I'd let yall know I'm alive and doing great.

Been putting in 2" conduit for high speed internet/TV and its been great. Using a 80hp vibratory plow to put it on 38" to top of conduit. Did a little over 100k ft last year from May to November.

Still have the the tb216 and just bought a tb260 with cab. The ac will be awesome this summer. Wife and I had our first child after 18yrs of marriage so that's been quite a change lol. Hope yall are doing well. I'll try to stop in more often.

Wasnt sure if i was going to get out of
this one. Was a shallow 1ft wide ditch before I tried to plow through it. Took a 11k excavator and a f450 to pull it though.

Plow at at touch a truck event, this is with a 28" deep plow blade has a 38" deep blade on it now.

Had to call a tow truck to get me out of this one. Was well worth the $200. I can pull in 1000 to 1500ft before the pipe breaks depending on the ground and number of curves.

Can you not carry the duct on the machine and lay it into the hole as you go so you aren’t having to drag it all through your trench?

Plow is one size too small to carry the reel as it goes. I could roll it out and feed blade it in but the main issue is @2" duct actual size is 2.25" so you would need 2.75" wide feed blade. This causes alot more damage and restoration than the pull blade. Most of the time then max runs between boxes or vaults is 900-1200ft so breaking usually isn't an issue.

Great thread Keif ,
I missed this one last year so great reading through it today . We’ve probably all been there regarding your concrete job that went wrong , fair play to you though for sticking with it and not walking away . Your customers don’t know how lucky they were with you . Love all the additions to the machine to get the most out of them .
I’m sure a few of us this side of the pond raised an eyebrow at the gun in with the equipment !! (Apart from the more criminally minded among us) but I suppose they are more common place over there .
Anyway keep the posts coming and congratulations on the new addition !

The kids love it! They climb on and start making vroom sounds and jamming on the levers, lol. The excavator was a bigger hit than the plow/trencher. A couple parents told me their kids first real word was excavator.

Thanks!

Since I've gotten this contract for doing fiber I haven't done any jobs for homeowners and I don't miss it at all.

Get my footage in, submit map and invoice then get a direct deposit into bank. I try to to 1500ft per day, including setting vaults/peds/seeding and strawing. Some days I might only get 1k but others I might get 2500ft so it averages out.

Re: pistol.
It's only a .22lr so it's just for fun. I thought I remembered there being a couple people interested in guns here so I thought I'd share.

My 6.5grendel/9mm/7.62x39/20 gauge are all to expensive for me to enjoy shooting so .22lr it is!(unless im hunting) I guess most any pistol, even .22 is off limits there?
Nothing wrong with that p istol
It's alot if fun good trigger and plenty accurate. The holosun red dot make shooting beyond normal handgun distances a breeze.

Yes not much available, nearest you can get for proper rounds is in a sporting pistol unless you live in Northern Ireland where i believe you can get section 5 licence.

Did a lot of shooting in the u.k (my dad was hunting mad) had shotguns/243/.17 hmr/ .22lr
don't have any guns now although would still shoot and eat my tea given chance rather than go to shop.
Pistols and rifles are still pretty easy to own here in France if you join a gun clubs.
