Welsh council tax revaluation goes ahead :oops:

buckle up

how to screw the population at large out of yet more money for FA return
" Bands will change in April 2025, based on an assessment of what homes were worth in April this year. ..... The Valuation Office Agency has been commissioned to revalue homes "using the latest technology", she said. "
" In England and Scotland, bills are still based on property values from 1991 "
" not a penny more in overall revenue" would be raised from the tax, ..." o_O

" Under the plans the council tax bands assigned to Wales' 1.5m residential properties will be reassessed using property values from 1 April this year.
The exercise - part of Labour minister's deal with Plaid Cymru - could cost around £10m over three years, with new tax rates coming into effect in April 2025.

I'm quite happily a Tory voter, but very pleased to see two black eyes, a fat lip and a bloody nose delivered today..... Only pity is they don't seem to of worked out that they are all the problem.

My folks have a second home in snowdonia in my dads home village. They pay about 4.5k a year coucil tax. Think the welsh government is try to out price 2nd home owners out of wales.
I'm not sure this is the right approach. I know folks in my village with 2nd homes there and 4.5k or 10.5k isn't going to affect them.
Think Dan @Monkeybusiness knows a bit about it. I think his mother lives in abersoch and thats Cheshire by the sea 😂😂

Yeah, my mum and sisters live near there (they are locals, they live there in their only homes).
A lot of houses have come to market in the last 12 months because of the new 2nd home council tax hike but the reality is these will largely sell to even wealthier second home owners who don’t care what rate the council tax is - actual house prices are unlikely to deflate much. It does nothing to fix the lack of affordable local housing issue.

well they've had collusion over it for sure ... up until about 2 years ago it was possible for you to own a house and the wife to own a n other .. only one between you now .. any other is classed as a second home for council tax and CGT/IHT/whatever:mad::mad: ... I had two and Pam still had hers for a long time ... we both got out of 'em just in time, not to get clobbered

My thoughts exactly. It dose'nt matter how much the coucil tax is. Its probably worse as you get wealthier and wealthier folks moving in

but of course they will all be fluent in Welsh :ROFLMAO:
mate of mine from college tried for years to get a job this side of the water .... application forms ALWAYS arrived in ****ing Welsh .... discrimination or what ... none of the posts he applied for required Welsh as a qualification :mad:
he's now retired and the WJEC or whatever it's called now lost 30 odd years of an exceptional teacher ... wank*rs
