Yes the cottage is at least 200 years old. The good soil goes down about 600mm.
We found some buried rubbish -the treasure was a bottle with the glass marble stop in pristine condition

So, last Sunday we did a 14 mile training session - Walton Pier to Clacton Pier and back

Finished up on that driveway dig grading off loads of crushed stuff

Look carefully and you'll see my Lieca LMR240 on the dipper firing off my TopCon set on a nice slope
This made solo grading off a piece of cake

Like a fool I showed our client, who is a kitchen fitter, how to use my laser kit and he started checking
Note that the Wacker is the same make as my mini

But my 'site supervisor' told him where to go
Had to finish to day with about 6 tonnes left for the grab lorry and needing about another 3 tonnes of crushed
They had to hand ball it the next day
That's the trouble on sites like this when I am not in control and others try and coordinate the ordering

dragged me off on an 8+ miler a while ago .... over the hills ..... she's on her knees by the time we'd walked back .... i'm just strolling along ....
we haven't had any more exercise criticisms since.

Used to walk up to nine miles a day in work .... pedometer-ed a week once out of curiosity ... ....
I don't cover quite so much ground these days, but back and fore/up and down me patch, etc. up/down - in/out the machine several dozen times a day too .... it all adds up ........ I get plenty of exercise

Yes exercise is the key to keeping kit at our age Good old Pam - get her to keep dragging you along or vice versa
On my iPhone have an App simply called Health that keeps track of distances and steps etc. Surprisingly accurate.

Yesterday’s job was a POP
Patio/decking dig out

Roughed out with the big teeth on the 600 - now hiding in the shadow. Then graded off with my old favourite. Client a mate of mine was handy with the laser staff

And he was also handy on the Terex dumper
After 2 x push downs we got all the rubbish dirt in an 8 yarder skip - only just
Slightly long day dragging digger then dumper to/from site - great fun with my friend. Left him to work his magic with the decking

Been really busy over the summer to date so here's a recent job:

A few weeks ago we rocked up to stick some trenches in for SWA cables.
This was at a local auction house for new floodlights to light up the front of this loverly old building.
Had to be careful not to make too much mess

Nice front lawn before I started. Note the 1.2m wide tarmac path

Came up with a cunning plan. Poke a 50mm pole under the path like professionals do
BTW - anyone know why photos sometimes rotate 90 deg and how to edit them back?

Pipe in place - POP really. Used some old marque poles all cut up ready.
The swaging of the ends helped with the bashing bit and a pointy bit.
These were removed after poking through the sticky clay soil

I was lucky that the mini didn't topple over working at that angle

Pushed it down with me Dynapac LC 50 before adding the warning tape.
BTW anyone know what the core grade of oil should be used in the gearbox

Then the cable had to go under this 2m wide tarmac path.
The customer expected me to cut a trench across the top between the brick piers.
But I had a cunning plan..........

Once again I used my simple 'thrust bore' - worked like a dream

Job done ready for a bit of grass seed

Can you just tidy up the rear car park..........
........borders so overgrown that the kerbs were covered. Filly a whole 8yd skip with rubbish
So gotta work out how to rotate the photos - any suggestions........

I've done the same with a scaffold pole to get cables under a path before. Its a great trick and well worth the effort vs reinstatement.

Yes I've done similar if you put a couple of singles on the pole back to back you can pick it up with the bucket push it in then pull it out from the seat

Yes when this customer asked if the finish could be better, I offered to come back with 2 tonne of topsoil and grass seed
