Has anyone had a new 1054 recently, thinking of upgrading mine, local IW dealer has them in stock, Led lights and spare for £3957 +vat, seemed reasonable ?

Saw them at a show earlier in the year, I thought they looked a bit cheap…which to be fair they were. Mostly folded steel I thought, not ‘proper’ steel sections

True but in fairness I don't think trailer prices rose a great deal in the 10 years leading up to the COVID madness

I picked up this 10x5, 2700kg, led lights(wouldn't recommend, they don't 'talk' properly to D3/D4s! That's from personal experience and the local ifor dealer.).
Cost me £2600, brand new from the second nearest dealer in march 2021, be £3500 at least now, I wouldn't sell for less than I paid for it. Sometimes impulse buys pay off

Get yourself out of retirement and start up again making some quality trailersformed sections in the right scale and proportions can be equally as good as rolled ..... used to use them a lot, having the facility to make them, back then
we’d probably all be in for one or two, the lead times might end up similar to the other Welsh lot

just missing a workshop, a 10' x 1/2" guillo, a 320t x 12' press brake, an 8' x 1/8" power folder and all the other gear associated with making trailers/anything else
formed sections are the only way to get the weights down on trailers these days and still keep 'em strong enough for the job.
when you examine IW,s and all the others, they'm all mostly formed sections and're effectively monocoque structures ... easiest way to build TBH and maintain strength .. gotta say though, they're all serious bucks and selling on their rep. ... could be done for a hell of a lot less and I doubt they're costing 40- 50% of what they sell 'em for.

good s/h Pearson'd be £12 -15k ...
press brake - s/h ? £35-40k for a good un - could get away with much less tonnage for the lighter stuff, but been there and up-graded to the 320t ....
nice Frost power folder ... £5-7k s/h for one that's not been abused -- plenty about, been repaired ('cos some nerk's tried to put too much in 'em) ....

I know where you're coming from, but bear in mind they've been operating a looong time and all this stuff gets written down annually anyway ... you can make a lot of trailers/components in a year, with the main kit. Used to do 'em as infill, for slacker weeks or between other things ..... would knock out the main formed components 10 sets at a time - morning's work for two. On it full time we'd have made a fair few in a week, with half a dozen guys.

Yes the crane sits about 9 foot long. Dumper was someone else I think? I was thinking about having a steel oil tank on the tracker carrier beside it. Toying with selling the crane anyway to free up some shed building funds. Time will tell.

There was about 3 or 4 mini cranes on Ryde pier the other day. The one I saw being used looked to be remote control too. Very cool things to play with by the looks of it.
