Selector grab

Looking for a selector grab for an 8t machine.

Rory has convinced me that new might be best!

Already had a few prices from Prodem & Rotar.

We're not heavy into demolition but can see it being a useful addition any brands to stay clear off / recommended?

I've used a kinshoffer selector and a intermerteco timber grab and both seemed to do the job well the timber grab had more closing force and was built very strong

I have a kinshofer on mine. Superb tool and will pinch like hell. Really surprised me how all that helical stuff gets such a good grip, will give the machine (Casecx75) a good lift if you close on hardstanding. Mine is the DO9hpx model. No daily greasing required as runs in constant oil bath. Used a Prodem one quite a lot too, decent kit but the kinshofer is built heavier and is better suited for boulder work and the like.
I'm working not far from Tavy at the mo if you fancied a look at it. With the teeth on it still closes blade to blade to get a good grab of soil too

have put a vid up some time ago of the HPX in operation under the 'Drema -- shuts with a real CLACK!

To be fair it’s probably fine for that task! I’m more annoyed at Engcon uk for being a tightarse and not standing behind their product!

Dala-gripen are brilliant selector grabs. But there mainly designed for tiltrotators. A rotator can of course be added but on larger grabs this can be expensive.
I have other options available also, il throw some prices your way tomorrow

I got mine with the case. Its all ex EA so not done much work by the looks. Quite honestly having spent time on other brands the Kinshofer is for me the perfect grab. Principle work for it is building drystone walls, big lumps of granite doing retaining boulder walls and the like, use it for the backfilling too But use it for everything- pulling 2ft willow stumps out, it easily digs around them etc. There isn't really anything I'd want to change about it except perhaps if I was cleaning up on hard surfaces the teeth would be a nuisance.

What price have you been quoted out of interest? I'd normally consider myself far too tight to spend £10k on a grab but if mine exploded in a ball of napalm I'd order another one.

DO9hpx model - £8925.00 + vat, but if you keep your existing headstock and hoses just under £8k

Here you go @Danny. 2 ton rock- straight off the ground, grab or case didnt really hesitate although cos of the size I have to find the right balancing point to give the rotator an easier life . Its spent the morning handling these- how long the HPX drive will last I have no idea!
