kobelco sk007 no grease nipple to adjust tracks

hi guys, ive got a 2005 kobleco sk007, which im trying to change the tracks on, ive removed the side inspection plate and there is a nut to undo but no grease nipple to pump the grease in to tension the tracks back up, anybody help cheers

Has the tensioner rotated, or is the nipple in the end?

so how do you loosen the idler to get the track off and then adjust it back up, i can't see anything except the bolt behind the panel, and it doesn't move

Exactly as Bri says, my Yanmar tensioner moves round if you get a large flat bladed screwdriver in you can move it back down in line so you can get a grease gun onto the nipple.

this is what's behind the panel, i tried undoing it, is it reverse threaded or something as it does not move, nor does it feel like it should, no grease nipple, no grease anywhere.

not easy to see from that pic, but looks like the hex part could well be a part of the body ... which would explain why it doesn't move .. with the track off does the idler move at all @mandrake ?

I’d guess if you remove that pin, the hex will turn. may be a mechanical adjuster. Best to find out for sure first.

's one hell of a pin if that's what it is @Bri963 ..... I thought it was two ears to grip with a stilli or Bahco, 'praps ... but must confess, the end nearest in the pic does look to have a spot weld on it???

i haven't got the track off yet, i want to be sure about this adjuster first.

If you are replacing the track, just cut across the old one remove it, pull the idler out of the track frame and the adjuster if separate and you can work out how it adjusts!

hi mick, the track is broke across 75% of its width, i think il cut it off like you say, i think the adjuster that i took a pic of has a flat type of retaining pin through it, i reckon it needs hitting out and then the bolt head will undo, im just a little unsure as have no experience fixing diggers.

right then guys, cut the track off, slid the idler out and basically the tube with the nut head behind the inspection plate is the manual tensioner, 17mm on it and plenty of wd37 and a half and undid the damn thing but bashing the socket arm down with my foot, took ages, anyway slackened it enough to get my new track over it, a genuine yanmar track one of two, which i got from a supplier in devon at a not bad price to be fair, anyway here's some pics for your amusement, now to retension the blasted thing oooohhhh.

Yep mechanical adjuster, get some spray grease on all the thread, go to the end with the nut ( find a spanner or socket to fit) the funny shape tube is I guess acting as a lock nut on the threaded rod, using a pipe wrench(stilsons) turn a little way anti clock wise, now with the threaded part lubed, wind the nut anti clock wise as far as you can, this should now be deadjusted. Refit the idler after cleaning and greasing the track frame slider and the idler carrier. Fit the new track, and now turning the adjuster nut clock wise adjust the track, until you have 10 to 15mm gap between the top surface of the track( inside surface of the track, nearest the ground) and the bottom centre roller, now with your pipe wrench turn the lock tube clock wise
