You leave that lot on display in the back of your truck and don't get burgled? I've had my pickup broken into more times than I care to remember. Now all the expensive stuff is in locked drawers, but the scum still smash their way into to top just to see what is there.

No I empty the top bit above the draws every day apart from wellies and wet weather gear and shovels. Basically all power tools.

Mines parked on my drive though under cameras in fairly nice area. Aren’t most your break ins in hotel car parks?

I leave truckmam top unlocked cheaper than new glass

Not all canopies are made equal. The fashion canopies vary from alright to absolutely terrible. The high top gull wing type are better but @V8Druid has some pictures of another forum members canopy that fully replaces the tub. Which would be mutts nutts but dear.
My canopy will still hold way more than a discovery boot.

Absolutely, I've got that canopy/rear body that V8druid posted filed away in my mind and if I do end up with another pick up it'll be looking very similar to that, not an off the shelf truckman/IW.

Trouble is I'm a complete cheapskate and would rather spend less on the whole truck than one of those canopies cost

I keep very similar to what Giles has outlined in the back of a disco 2 . Just have to think a bit creatively as to where it all fits, all shovels, bars and hand tools like in the rear foot well. Shelf accross boot etc. Normally carry 50L of diesel in the back too, stackable crates etc for the lesser used tools. Cat scanner bungeed under shelf etc. Its amazing how much it fits in, and the Terrier to keep an eye on it all. I don't miss using pickups to carry tools in, as find it far easier accessing stuff through the side doors, plus it doesnt look like a van/truck with tools in it!

I've been down in Australia for 6month and that sort of ute tray is everywhere down here, look so much more practical than anything people do at home, I'd love to build one up at some point if I ever shell out for a ute

The Ozzy utes tend to come with a tray back as standard (totally flat, sit higher than the wheels so no internal intrusions and easily removable sides) so it’s a lot easier to fabricate generic demountable and easily customisable bodies. The initial loading height is higher though.

2/3 pickup though isn’t it no proper back seats my dad had a navara like two little suicide doors and tiny bench seats he took them out had his tools in back

They still fit them to double cabs. Even better on the v8 landcruiser.
But some of those trucks only have about 6in difference in bed length between the two cab types. Makes it a bit pointless

My mates bought 2 of them, £48k bog standard spec and got an older model one plus a few series 70 and 80 land cruisers awesome bits of kits. When I was a kid my dad ran a few series 80 4.2 land cruisers tow like tractors

Lovely. But looks alot of overhang on the rear axle? I agree though. What superb looking trucks. With a proper engine too

Yes my break ins are hotel car parks. But with CCTV and night duty porter.
If nothing is there to take leaving it unlocked is a sensible option.

Busy driving tractor drivers at a local contractors mostly, then came down here in oct to get a slice of the OZ pie, headed back to get on with a few bits at home by the end of the month

Where I've been down here he's got a couple cruisers, got to say they really don't appeal to me from a driving point of view but it has to be said that they seem to be great workhorses and pretty reliable.

A few ute trays I've seen also have roller draws underslung, one even had a second battery slung under, as well as a small water tank and a toolbox

when you think about it the tub back style wastes a lot of good space
