Recommendations for a good digger bush/pin supplier?

My local Ernest Does is the main HQ, if it’s a last resort then if you give me the part numbers I can drop in and price it all up when I'm next passing. Im not saying it’s the best option, but if it’s a last resort or you just want to compare prices then I don’t mind going in, I go past it regularly.

I’m not trying to defend them, but if it’s your only option then worth at least getting a price? They are certainly not my first port of call for spares, we do use them for some stuff and have had an account for many years, but I caught them out on some parts prices a few years ago where they were blatantly adding 25% to the manufacturers rrp, I’ve not forgotten it…..
But sometimes they are the only option

one out fit I spent a lot with squirmed, wriggled and grovelled hard, but they were finished with me and I told a LOT of ppl about their performance too. Tossers

Manufacturers RRP means diddly squat ...in fact it's often a way of manufacturers overpricing with their parts and hence giving the dealer no margin....

I don't know yet because the parts guy at MJN tractors is having a nightmare getting any info from them. But figures of £300 for a bush were mentioned. Too much.

I first tried Does, at first parts guy was helpful, but then wouldn't return my calls and just sent an abrupt email saying I should use a different branch which were nearer! It doesn't matter a shits worth of arsehole which branch you use if it's mail order, and if one branch is backhoe specialist (which i highly doubt) then why not tell me to begin with??? Not impressed. I get the feeling CNH construction just don't care.

Have you tried Haynes ?? The Horsham branch where very helpful when it was oakes bros. Oaks always used to be the cheapest unfortunately they are gone now

Plenty of other CNH construction dealers including MJN who are only 10 miles from me.

Parts book. I've emailed them to evans and reid.

At this rate I'm thinking I might as well buy some EN24t and machine them myself! the problem will be heat treating them.

I've made pins in silver steel before now from ground flat stock.
Not overly cheap mind but good pins and weldable to a point
Silver steel stock

one of these was a company I had used for years supplying all sorts of welding kit and consumables ...
asked 'em for a price on some new Binzell MIG and plasma torches ...
was given what was supposedly 35% off list ..
following day the Binzell rep walked into my shop ...
asked him for the same prices ..
which he gave me, with/plus a 45% discount and provided me with their glossy price list.
My regular guys were adding 25% on to list ....

I also had on order with them, a 200A Mosa, remote and a Hobart hefty which came to £3k and change, back then.
by pure chance, in the mail I'd had a brochure from Industrial Engines, the very same day at half the price.

needless to say I had a very heated tel. discussion that afternoon, after lunch ..... by 4pm the boss man, who lived just outside Abergavenny was in my office, huffing an' puffing telling me I was mistaken/it wasn't possible ...... the brochures/price lists soon took the wind out of his sails ... orders were cancelled and I never used them again .. you only get caught taking the piss once

I have ordered parts for my New Holland from UK construction parts, If the dont have the parts they ring round and can usually find them, There is also a good USA website AVspare.com that shows most New Holland / Fiat Kobelco/ Hitachi backhoe loader parts, You have to go in and search out the model pretty hard then find the sub sections but you can get exploded diagrams and part number lists from it. The hoses can be fun too make sure you have a few spare as they are not the same fitting as JCB/ Fermec etc.

My thinking too- got as far as chucking some 50mm in the lathe today to turn some 45.6mm pins to take the slack out of the hitch bushes and eyes but then thought hmm, wait a minute.

What grade do we think should be used for digger pins?

The theory is that the harder component wears faster as the grit embeds in the softer component making it abrasive.
Therefore if you make the bushes slightly softer than the pins then you will hopefully only ever have to replace pins.

depends on how much use it's going to get and what bits're doing the rotating .... if you're going to make your own bushes, it'd make sense to make the bores summat std, like 1-7/8 " which is obtainable off the shelf and have a stock of spare pins?

Then you would have to sheath the parts where the pins are fixed though ???

TBF it wasn't for ground engaging equipment but as long as you ain't breaking the pins can it be too hard ?
