Are cheaper Wacker plates any good? I see there is a Hyundai one for £500. The bell and Wacker compactors are a bit dear for me at the moment although I'm sure they are great.

I bought a big strimmer/ brush cutter and that's great considering it was £160odd. I'm just wondering if the Wacker has enough wallop for 6inch of type 1

My boss bought loads of mid range ones the big plates about 30 inches by 18 inches and I can just about pick them up by myself and put them on a lorry
The previous ones made 2 people grunt getting them in a transit and almost impossible to get on a lorry
But I don't think there is as much difference in the smaller plates

I like the look of the rp1100. If I get these two paving jobs I'll give you a call.

Yes forward and reverse. Petrol or deisel. Not sure about weight, fairly heavy

Those Bomag wackers are very good. Weigh around 300kg depending on modal and usually have a diesel Hatz engine in them. But they are mega money new for their size. I've been tempted by a cheaper brand for this weight range of wacker but bits like the rollcage just don't inspire the same kind of confidence that the Bomag ones do. And they do get battered swinging around under machines and being operated by idiots on site.

picked myself one up from aldi online the other week is a scheppach brand one. Used it a couple of times around the house and is not a bad machine at all does what I need and has plenty of power. I only payed £290ish for mine so around half price from screwfix. The one in the link is the same machine

Found it on Aldi's site, cracking wee wacker for the price, comparable to the lumag above specs wise - https://www.aldi.co.uk/scheppach-plate-compactor/p/083913261079101
