I went to see the yanmar SV26 today and had a play with it . This one has the longer dipper and hydraulic hitch . First impression was I really like the red it’s a Scarlett red and does look good .
Second impression was it’s big ! Before I had the Volvo ec18c I had a Hanix h26 but this machine seems bigger than I remember the Hanix being . Maybe machines are physically bigger now compared to 20 years ago with better design and therefore you can get more machine for the same weight . I just had a shot on it around the yard so no real digging . It’s fast , and lively . The tracks are very sensitive . It has prop control on extra services on both sides and they can both be regulated with a dial . I imagine this could be very useful . The undercarriage is big and strong . It’s long and wide so it is really well planted . I can’t imagine a tiltrotator or tilting bucket making much difference to it especially with the extra counterweight .
The offset is very good to the right but is only 45 degrees to the left . To be honest I don’t know would I of noticed it much as the Volvo is also restricted one way but it does go further than the yanmar . The cab is nice . Much more spacious than the Volvo . Controls feel good . The blade lever seems long and has the tracking speed button on top of it . I’ve seen this in other machines and not been a fan , I’m assuming it’s something to do with when your doing blade work . The throttle is manual and is further back behind console . One down side was the engine is noisy . I’ve been on the Volvo all day and the yanmar seemed noticeably noisier than it . All in all a very well balanced , strong , smooth machine with great additional services . The offset isn’t that big a deal for me and any niggles were minor . If I can get my finances sorted out I will likely go for it

Difference seems to be that it offsets the full 90 degrees to the right . I noticed the ram is on the opposite side compared to the Volvo . I think you’d need it on site working to understand why yanmar have done this . I did notice that with the ditcher on you can’t quite hit the cab when offset left . Maybe it was aimed at hire market to stop numptys damaging the machine

When off setting to right the machine doesn't feel right. Just me i suppose

I’m the same . I think it’s a hangover from driving bigger conventional boom machines . When you sit in the cab and have the boom fixed on your right so you are always looking at your buckets from the left. I operate the mini with the boom slightly offset left so I can see the bucket to the left .

What do You think about Case D series ? Choosing between:
1) CASE CX 26C - the cheapest one
2) CASE CX 28D - stronger than JCB 8026
3) JCB 8026 CTS - the same price as Case CX 28D

Buying the new one. The aim is to excavate electric cables (max. depth 1.5 m) and to install foundations for lighting poles

where abouts are you ? If your near me and your buying new I’d be saying jcb because the dealer is on my door step and the case dealership is 180miles away and their parts prices are extortionate .

I'm in Poland. The CASE service is very close to me and is of very good quality. I have the 580ST model and I am satisfied, but there are opinions that CASE is a beginner in the production of mini excavators, so I have concerns.

I didn’t know that case were building their own mini diggers . I thought they were built by another manufacturer . As far as I’m aware they still repaint and badge sumitomo machines in the bigger ranges

They were kobelco a few years back and currently Hyundai but I understand are now eurocomac.i really rate case machinery and woukd keep buying them but nearest dealer is far to far away

yeah spot on, have case ever built there own minis? Not sure they have. Ive been offered the Hyundai/Case cx26c for £28000 and must say it's tempting. Only 1 year warranty though. What's Hyundai stuff like- I've no idea....

I really rate Hyundai based on my old duck . They’ve been steadily improving as well . They have gone heavily down zero swing route though which I wouldn’t entertain for my work

I went and had a go on brand new kubota Kx027-4 today. Didn't work it just spent a bit of time in someones yard. Definitely struck me as a well put together machine. It all looked pretty good quality to me and well thought out. Seemed smooth and hungry for work. I wonder why it isn't raved about more on here a nice transportable weight too with buckets etc ? Decent spacious cab with excellent visibility and most importantly a proper overhanging counterweight... Only thing I wished is that you could clean up against the blade without having to offset. Its also quite narrow at 1400mm but not always a bad thing ..

2590kg transport weight. So a bit of scope to bring for a few buckets etc on the trailer too. It also has a 4cyl 1.5l engine in it.
