damn ... wish i'd known that 30 years ago I'd have waited 10 years MickAmazing really 20 years ago these kind of things were laying around for 100 quid delivered. Can’t even by a replacement engine for that now![]()
Well guys, and the help/suggestions keep coming. Thank you all so much.
Very interested in sfrs4’s contribution. I guess you’ve put into words my initial thoughts. The guys here however have made me stop and think. But it’s curious how things turn out. When I started to think harder about what might be available locally I mentioned it to a couple of good friends - like you do - and as luck would have it, one has just been offered a 1.5 ton JCB by his brother in law. He was hesitant at first but I persuaded him to follow it up and offered to go halves. His family are all mechanical engineers, so there shouldn’t be a problem sorting anything out. He only lives 6 miles away which will be very handy. So far we know very little about it but the brother in law only wants 4K (mates rates) for it ! So watch this space and when I know more I’ll run it by you all. Funny how things turn out. Not a certainty but fingers crossed.
Thanks also to Nick for keeping an eye out.
What year is it Charlie? Is it an 803?At the same level as you @Stebbo and bought this for the odd job around the farm. Cost me 2.5K about 4-5 years ago. Not the prettiest thing to look at and a bit slow but easy to work on as very little electrics.
I found it on ebay but using a little known 'Ebay Local' beta site, so I knew I'd be able to take a quick trip locally and scratch & sniff before I bought it.

wasn't that Kub Lord Sean's that had about 350hrs on it Dylan ?I bought this about 11-12 years ago it was to replace my case. Luckily i decided to keep it, think i wanted 4.5k at the time. They are the same age.View attachment 45085View attachment 45086View attachment 45087 View attachment 45085
There are odd machines out there at reasonable prices, it’s a case of keeping your eyes open, knowing the right people and moving quick.Except used prices are still fairly high. If you bought your k008 a few years ago, it's probably gone up 1 or 2k in value. My mate bought a k008 in August last year was 6.5k plus vat and they must have spent best part of 1k and that's without sorting the weeping valve block and eventually having to swap the tracks. To be fair he could probably sell it for what it owes him, but the market is eventually going to drop.
For one job, it just isn't worth the hassle of buying plus you can hire the right machine for the job and not have to buy whats in budget and make do, plus saves trying to sort all the scamming effers from the genuine.
26hrs if i remember correctly. Done 1k now i think. 20 years old nowwasn't that Kub Lord Sean's that had about 350hrs on it Dylan ?
It's an 802 mate. I guess around 1984ish as some fcuking pikey has removed the data plate! What year is it Charlie? Is it an 803?
Lord Sean that's a name from the pastwasn't that Kub Lord Sean's that had about 350hrs on it Dylan ?
Nice bloke but went rapidly down in my estimations when I was trying to get details of someone he knew (a known plant thief) in order to trace and retrieve a machine they had for saleLord Sean that's a name from the past![]()
Looks tidyWell guys, a little more info re the brother in laws JCB. I've attempted to attach a photo but I'm not sure I've done it correctly. It should, I hope give you all an idea of the 'mini beast'. It's mid to late 90's, comes with 3 buckets and as you can see it's got a full cab AND two flood lights. That means I can even work in the dark when it's raining - right ? The price I'm assured is 4K but wait for it, my very good friend wouldn't hear of me going halves. He'd prefer to be the sole owner but would let me use it as and when I needed it AND I know he will. (He worked for me for 16 years and then bought my company out, name an all.) He is pretty much like a son. I just hope the controls are more intuitive that attaching a photograph here !!!
Cheap machine at 4k tbh. Be aware the joystick controls are on Bowden cables so keep them well oiled
didn't know that sad as I always thought he was alright Think its was B100s or droitts or something he was a bit obsessed withNice bloke but went rapidly down in my estimations when I was trying to get details of someone he knew (a known plant thief) in order to trace and retrieve a machine they had for saleit is sad when people don't live up to your expectations.

Drotts in general. I liked the man and spoke alot to him.... But when the chips where down and another forum members hammer landed for sale on Facebook from a very well known plant thief whom Sean had frequently posted about being with (another JCB 110 enthusiast) he suddenly "didn't know him very well"didn't know that sad as I always thought he was alright Think its was B100s or droitts or something he was a bit obsessed with
