Plant trailer choices.

I'm looking to make life easier and get a bigger plant trailer. I want to be able to get my 1850KG spider crane and a 575kg oil tank on top of my 350kg tracked carrier to site in one go. Basically 2.8 ton by the time you add a few straps etc.
Crane is 600mm wide and tracked carrier is 700mm wide so side by side on a GH1054 would take both.

2 things.
1. I would need to strap down to the centre of the bed, so would need to have central tie downs fitted. Dealer wasn't interested so would need local fabricator to sort. Any suggestions?
2. Always been loyal to IW and my dealer (Winston Pincombe) has always been great to deal with. But.. is there a better trailer that will meet my needs?

If you are sure they will fit side by side then you won’t get a better trailer imho

What do you mean about strapping to centre of the bed?

I want to put them side by side. So will need to strap from the side to the centre for each bit of kit.

I think there are only cross members side to side, so would need some metal adding between the cross members running front to back, to attach the lashings too.
I would go with pull up lashing eyes, and recess the floor slightly so they are flush when not in use.

Cheers. Maybe a length steel of 50x50mm on the length, bolted through all cross members. Welded eyes or hooks in appropriate spots. Will only mean a few holes in bed and won't devalue trailer too much. Can't see it being in the way of normal loads as if single machine then will straddle steel tie down.

That's how I'd do it, very tempted to do it to my 10 x6 for when I take the skidsteer/tracked dumper/micro digger combinations. They're a real pain to tie down well sometimes👍

Gh1054 is about your only option, there is also a Brian James that has just over 2.8t payload.

The alumax has 2.9t but a good £1k+ more than the Ifor, but you would have to add a floor to the middle section, there is bits of frame that straddle the middle, no idea if these would be strong enough to put a shackle round

Have a look at Nugent, they are silent when towing and well built, don’t know much more. I’d definitely look at one for my next trailer!
Too narrow or too wide without enough payload sadly,

If you welded bits of plate onto the 50x50 so that the machines sat on the plate once loaded then strapped down machines both sides to that if done carefully would make it a single load. The strap the machines down to the outside. If done carefully and the box touched the trailer headboard and the plates touched the edge then you could make it all self supporting and easily removable.

how do you propose to cope with the fact that you will have over a tonne loaded offset to one side ..... tyres're gonna struggle to cope, as is the suspension .. the load rating is a UDL

A tonne ofset can't be as bad as over 3t uniformly distributed that most ifors seem to carry around.

it's an additional tonne, to one side, on top of 1700+ kg UDL though

But still less load on that side side than with an evenly distributed overload.
er ... no !! 1850kg to one side 925kg t'other would have to be carrying 3700kg to match a UDL to that side let alone less

That's what I'm getting at!!
A lopsided yet light load has got to be better than an evenly distributed but overloaded trailer that seems to be the standard in this weight class.

you will still be well beyond the load rating of the tyres on the overloaded side
