The P8 serial range runs from: 400001 to 460000.

The parts list I have runs from 430000 to 460000, so there must have been some significant changes mid series.

My serial No. begins 412xxx. Sorry but for some strange reason I don't want to make my complete serial No. public knowledge !

There's no way the online parts can include the extra knowledge of a decent dealer parts man (they are rare but do exist). There's every chance if you were to stood at parts desk even with serial number you'd be asked if wiper was top or side mounted.

Oh yes, I have had experience of that many times over many years ! But I plugged my serial No. into the JCB web site and got the correct window which also shows the holes down the side of the glass. I will try an earlier number to see if I can find the side mounted wiper.

that explains why yours is a bit different to mine - mine is 450xxx

I learnt to swing on a spanner working on a few Series landrovers - no two seemed to be the same.

I've just searched on m/c ser. no. 400100 and the wipers and rear glass are the same as they are for my much later ser. no. It also shows dual arm wipers front and rear and gives the impression that the rear wiper is top mounted whereas the pictures show the holes for side mounting.
