Roughneck Skip Loaders

Any thoughts on these? anyone had actual experience of them? There was one recently on Ebay at £3500 said to be reconditioned, carry 500Kg, as does the Hyundai little walk behind @ about £2.2K new. Plus point to me is Roughneck is self towable, as is my digger. It had a little forks attachment available & a loader scoop when new. Bit of info on oilyhands website, also once a tiny Westwood machine. Machines like Hyundai have multiple gears where the Roughneck single speed? because driven by gear pump - not variable. To be honest the 'reconditioning' only included jobs I could have easily done, so a rough one cheaper.

Look a bit of a joke, ok to play in garden or nursery etc no good in production building site environment

Looks like it has a high centre of gravity a long wheel base & is comparatively narrow. So I would assume it has stability & break over issues off-road, but I expect the owner is used to that as he has 2 Discos 😂 .

Built to do the narrow access, little builder job.... tbf where once quite popular before the likes of the Peljob 750 etc came out as better than a Thwaites sprite etc.
Nice curiosity. Doubt there up to much but they have the advantage that they are self loading.

I think from memory that square tube below the engine and the one opposite is to attach stabilizers

They are good in a domestic setting working with a 1 tonne digger and they are very easy to load with shovel because the bucket can tilt down right to ground level which also makes concrete pours quite clean. Make sure you get the later ones with power steering. I got a 4 wheel drive one but it was a mistake the 2 wheel drive one is better because you can pull the wheels in to get through a garden gate. 4 wheel drive isn't really 4 wheel drive with these because you loose alot of power when one wheel lists off the ground. Having said that I'm not looking to replace mine because it's made life alot easier. The small tracked dumpers can be hard on people's lawns and driveways and that's the only alternative thats 800mm wide. Turning radius isn't that good

Actually I i did have a go on a Lifton 0.5t and that was good aswell but they are pretty rare

I was told they are rather fast, so much so that in can be hard to stay in the seat on rough ground. I would only be doing domestic work rather than a serious site. I also deal in a few logs & have two elderly customers where I cannot get my van up a steep & winding narrow lane, so out comes the barrow. Not so easy at fast approaching 62! I was considering an all round machine that could do this & work in gardens with the Manor Digger. It seems some like it some not, I guess it is horses for courses. Re the Hyundai barrow, is the wheeled one faster than the tracked version? I think Lumag are tracked only? Re external washing machines I recently cleared a place that had 6 of them, supposedly to make one good one - bit difficult considering they were all different makes and ages!!!
Thinking of taking up a forum motto, either 'The past is another country, they do things differently there!' or maybe ' Marrying your childhood sweetheart means never dropping your pants in a V.D. clinic' Wish I married mine, she was a doll or 'stone fox' only downside she always smelt vaguely of horses! JD your motto should be 'still a good machine on the right job' as you run older stuff & often say this (often true!) Not so well just now but still hoping to do something with the rebuilt Manor, maybe progress into something more serious
