Still on the hunt for a vehicle to tow 3.5 Ton. Been thinking about an Iveco daily pickup, something about 2010/2012. What are they like? Anything to avoid?

Looking forward to here your thoughts.

Two different models in the 3.5t range, not too upto date on model versions but only one tows 3.5t
A guy I worked with had the older shape don't think he had any major issues with it but are more basic than the transit in terms of refinement

Needs to be a twin rear wheel for the 3 tonne towing. I have a 2004 model and very happy with it!

Only the twin wheel as stated is 7t train weight.

Post 2006 they became abit s**t.... Not sure about the newest ones.

Thanks Lads, not sure what to do yet, go for a daily etc or a jeep like the Touareg I asked about in another thread. Not spending big money on a second vehicle so it will be down the years abit.

We had a 2007 iveco 35c 150, was the 3l hdi. Had plenty of poke but was a bit soft, the wing mirrors would get loose and fall off and little things like the indicator stalk wouldn't self cancel and the window winder handles came off. When it was less than a year old the clutch shat itself and knackered the bellhousing, all had to be replaced under warranty. But we had her for 10 year and only really changed because was a bit tatty looking.

ive got the newer one, 16 plate 3 litre auto. didnt want the auto as i meant no PTO but its what they had in stock. Pulls our 3 tonner very well, you dont really notice its there. I did add air bag suspension to the back so its not as obvious when you have 4 ton of stone in the back.....

We have a new wildtrak and a 12 plate daily, the daily is by far the nicest to tow with, sits well with 3:5 behind and a ton on the back, been little trouble ,couple of small electrical issues but nothing scary.would happily recommend one.

Thanks for all the replies. So the general thoughts are there ok?
Do you reckon youd get about a ton on the back legally? If so then it would definitely be a good tool for me.

Older Ones would carry 1.2t in the van type/alloy flatbed

Get some rear uprated leaves from Midland Road Springs and you can carry 4 tonnes in there without anyone knowing...

How about getting a pick up done with that 5 wheel conversion and goose neck trailer can tow 5.3 ton then and when trailer not needed it's just a normal pick up?

Utter can of worms that in the UK IMHO stu.

I have a feeling that would require a C1+E license despite being under 7000kg train weight. Reason being your trailer is over 3500kgs.
