New vans

I’ve wouldn’t buy another Ford van. We’ve had two vans under 10 years old that have had to be written off due to rotten chassis & when we had a spate of break ins specifically on our ford vans when I rang the local dealership they denied there was an issue. Currently run Mercedes, Citroen, Toyota & an Iveco Daily 50 Crew Cab Tipper but running out of men with pre ‘97 licence so looking to swap this for an Iveco Daily Van & tipping trailer.

better off with a van and small tipping trailer then surely ? .... don't see the point of a pick up that won't carry anything more than a big sarmie box
Depends if you keep to said weights 😝

For me I couldn't do with a van and tipping trailer. So much so my iveco van hasn't been on the road for 2 years now.

Having the open back of the tipper is alot better and easier for chucking all items on or off.
Tool pod keeps basic stuff dry and together. I've an underslung tray for shovles. That way the tipper is always free and clear to put on as you need without having to stuff floating about on it.

It will also tow the diggers all over the place without issues and is better suited to some of the streets and lanes I find myself in.

To me tipper trailers are a massive pain in the arse.

I’m still looking for a tipper.
I’ve found that, transits even the single rear wheel with crew or tool pod will not carry a ton. Minus two blokes and tools and I couldn’t even put a tracked barrow on the back.
I’d imagine Iveco the same?
I’m looking at Citroen relay now, with a non factory all Ali body payload is about 1200kg.
It’s a minefield!
You'd need to check as majority of tippers payloads are stated as chassis cab, so you have to minus off the 500kg for the tipping body. Best bet would be to get an unladen one on a weighbridge

I have the older Iveco and can’t beat it. But I don’t work in London where this ulez kills the use of the older trucks. I am just glad that my pollution stays local and doesn’t affect anyone in a clean air zone. Which of course you can still go into, as long as you pay!! 🤔🤔🤔🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

True that, but keeping a £7k trailer safe…in London…in a recession…😂
It’s what put me off that approach round here.
Trailers can be very handy... If you have the access on the job to get in.
Best payload for b license holders and multi purpose.
Twin axle 3.5t tipping trailer will have payload of around 2.6t

Yeh but £12 something a day for 2 vehicles will add up very quick. Plus i imagine the closer we get van prices will probably hike even more than they already are. Its anoying because based in surrey just all our work is in wimbledon, shouldn’t complain too much they are nice projects to do.

£12 per day (x2) 5 days a week for 48 weeks a year is £5760.

Work it out for what's best for you. What you spend on a new vehicle is it worth paying the charge.

Don't forget in a year or 2 they will change parameters on what meets criteria now, so you'll still have to pay to move freely.

It's all one money making scam

Iveco are the best chassis cabs/tippers IMO.
I’ve recently had a MAN TGE panel van (exactly the same as a VW Crafter) and it’s the bollocks.
Transits are for pikeys - you either are one or they will nick it off you as it is rightfully theirs in the first place!

Those man the vans look smart, I know they are just badge engineered VW but seen a few floating about. Shame the 4x4 doesn't tow the full 3.5t

We work sats aswell so closer to 7k. I agree its all money making for them and they can keep moving the goal posts as they see fit is a pain.
