That was very clever getting that in there:cool:

I can’t help thinking that it looked the wrong tool for the job? Or am I being silly?

Yeh, have to agree with you, just all depends on what else there was to do down there, impressive none the less😎

I thought maybe easier just to drop a 2 tonne track machine straight through the hole, but when you see how deep the s**t is I think you would have slop coming in the door and not be able to track about.. Also, reading the blurb it says it excavated 100,000 m3 so you are going to want a fair sized machine.
Regardless whether it would be easier with something else I was impressed how he wiggled it through the slab.

So impressed by it, it wasn't until the 3.15s mark that I noticed it had a tilty on it . On balance I'd say it was a good call - shifting that amount of muck in a confined space with a tracked 360 would take a long time.

Another Menzi video. Looks fun, but I wouldn’t want to be paying for it. Swiss rates for a full spec Menzi can be around the £250 per hour.
They do like their universal grabs. Solves the major issue with walkers that you can get to inaccessible places, but how do you get your attachments there. Some are helicoptered in, but the grab does a lot of different operations. They look like Intermercato Tigergrip universal grabs https://www.intermercato.com/en/product/tg-20-mp/

I’d be interested in your thoughts as to the mobility of the Menzi based MEWPs (they were at the last couple of APF shows if you happened to go) Graham. They don’t have any way of using the front end as a walking foot - every video I’ve seen of a menzi doing anything difficult/special uses the bucket/grab for repositioning. How good are they without that?

I’ve had a look at them both in the factory and at shows. It is impressive what they will roll over and the fact them can sit on both back to front and side slopes with no issues, but they don’t have the ultimate go anywhere ability of a “standard” Menzi with an arm to bump itself around and push up really bad slopes.
Incredible bits of kit though.

To true :)
I’ve only mastered getting one on and off my trailer
You are just showing off now. Just because you are probably one of only two or three low loader operators in the UK who can load and unload one.

It is actually quite straight forward. I've only done it once with the big one when the ramps failed on the plant lorry I use for local trips. Luckily it was the cheese wedge style so they weren't in the way. Used to do it all the time on my old trailer with the small ones rather than than get the ramps out. Just raise the machine up until the belly is clear of the bed , put the bucket down on the bed and lift the front legs up and on, slew round and drive forward whilst lifting the rear legs and you are on. Probably quicker tha actually deploying the ramps.
