Poor little bugger - I’m surprised it was worth the cost of the op. Will it just end up in your own freezer ultimately?
Be a waste of time financially, but like to give everything a chance. My Mate broke it calving, was going to shoot it so I got it for free. Plan is that if it lives it can run for a while then will end up in our freezer, can’t take it to abattoir with 3 legs so will be a home slaughter

That’s what I thought (re the abattoir).

When guys don’t turn up to work or let you know.. or answer the phone! My blood pressure has just about gone down to a Reasonable level! 😡
I seem to have the complete opposite problem ATM. Guy books a day off and then phones in, actually boss the thing I booked a holiday for is off , can I come into work today. 😆 Then I oblige and have to make sure I have work to keep him busy 😶

That's literally my life with this job near uttoxeter, meant to be an agency guy today and according to the agency was just at the petrol station half mile up the road. I get to site and no one there and they are no longer answering calls from the agency. So today I have been shoveling sharp sand, wacking, screening and having to load and lay tegula blocks on my... Again.
This job has been on and off since march that's 3 agency no shows, 3 from indeed and one from grafternow all no shows. Plus 5 starting and not being kept on for various reasons but mostly no show with no call/text or one tool who was banging on about some guy, offering him weed all the way back to collect his kid from a childminder. Who then text at midnight saying he had caught 24 hour sickness from his kid (who was fine all day as at a childminder) and that was literally his first and last day.
This job is nearly finished and I can't wait to see the back of it

A day happily working on my own. Had my nephew help out for a few shifts over the last 2 weeks. But he has a need to spend longer than 30mins on break and said that I am unreasonable if tell him 10mins late back is not acceptable.

Is it the younger generation, family pi55 take or is it I am unreasonable?

30mins for the whole day? Or in just one sitting. Personally I like to take shorter breaks 10-20mins but usually have a cuppa mid morning and later in afternoon too, brief though otherwise loose momentum! Probably totals 45 mins for the whole day id guess

My lime renderer has got two coats on, scaffold and compressor on-site etc now gone awol. After a week of no response got this.

Giles I’m so so sorry mate. My brother is in a bad way. He split up with his he Mrs and didn’t handle it well at all. Tried to do something silly and I’ve ended up having to nip up to the Lake District. I’ve been in waiting on and the hospital since Monday. So sorry for the delay. I’ve not known what to do to be honest. My sister is on her way up here as we son and she is going to take over from me so I can get back. Apologies Giles

He was a week or two late starting the job after his wife’s dad died down south and he had to sort it…. Must have a big family for all these excuses. Just say on another job need a few days to fix it etc

2 breaks of 30 mins each. He wants a break at 10am and another at 1pm. Big site mentality. I usually grab a coffee at 11.30, then will eat at 1pm, when he wants another 30mins, I will take 15mins and get back out. He will wander out after 30mins, spend ages stretching and doing his laces, then finally pick up a shovel for 5mins then say he needs to go to the toilet!!

The biggest thing that winds me up is working with people that forget to get lunch everyday
Even though they stop to get a coffee on the way from the yard to the site. They then have to leave site to get food.
And can't eat it in the van on the way back. It can only be eaten once they get on site.
So they end up with an hour lunch break instead of the 20mins half hour that people with a packed lunch take. Plus 50 fag breaks a day. And I don't know why they cant roll them stood working like the old blokes can. They have to go to the van and take their time over it

That would absolutely do my head in. Can never understand the mentality of all this faffing around sorting breakfast and lunch during working hrs. How hard is it to sort a lunch and have breakfast before leaving the house!
