I bought (and still own) an ex-Imery’s welder’s Land Rover (I’ve had it for more than 20 years). I spoke to whoever was responsible for its maintenance before purchase and they told me not to buy it as it had essentially worked in China clay grinding paste all of its life…
I bought it anyway because it looked great - I don’t want to consider how much time and money I’ve poured into it since!

Many have gone in there and not factored in the wear properly or had spare buckets and left with tail between legsThat's about right mate, some of the most abrasive material for wear on your GET

The local silica quarry was similar for wear, you could almost hear the metal being worn away, a kind of squeaking/squealing sound as the bucket pulled through sand deposits.

I've got a 13T with operator in the pits @ imerys short-term hire 150-hour contract just preparing for a drill rig and wouldn't mind going down and seeing it

I tell you a story about that picture. The bench I was ripping was up high on the right of the picture, this pebble was buried within the material and every time I reversed I'd catch the top of the bugger so it had to go .It eventually came out but was so big had nowhere to put it other than out over the side. Asked the quarry chargehand to stop anyone coming down to the pit and pump house I heaved the bugger over the side and as you can see the size of it ( bigger than the D8T) the resulting splash resulted with wet sloppy sand being thrown about 75yrds into the pumphouse and causing a hellova mess
, between myself and Steve the 385 operator we managed to move it 50yrds before we had to give up as we just couldn't move it as being to large and heavy and putting strain on our machines, so Steve dug a massive hole and we pushed it in an buried it again, that will teach the bugger to mess with us

Yes we use them for our cutting edges and know Dave L the fitter top bloke
. I worked with some of Lobby's operators back year's ago strippng top soil for the the new tip extension site beside Melbur tip , Bill and Antony were on the Excavators loading.
