Just buy a pair of rubber tracks - I’d imagine the steels would sell easily?…

because its easier and less hassle to just look out for the one I want with rubbers rather than adding work and expense

Never had anything to do with city pads but somehow don't fancy them and don't fancy hassle with steels ...even if it's customers perception about damage to drives etc.

Dobsons would swop it onto rubber I suppose ...as long as idlers and sprockets don't need changing at same time 🤔

Did you enquire Giles ?

EDIT : I see you did and got no response ....I'm guessing 37k 🤔

City pads are crap imo, useless off tar and on tar and concrete etc they seem to grip well and create lots of drag when turning

Think that's a factory fit machine like my old 161 was. They widen the blade at the same time to match the wider tracks. So rubbers the blade would be wider.
IMO the tracks were the best thing about the machine. Can float over boggy ground- leaves a carpet like finish everywhere you go and come in handy tracking in bits of ground etc. Here's mine- just staying afloat on peat bog.

Yes they have there advantages like you say 👍... I drove an ex100 hitachi that was on wide ish steels and it was great for tracking a tidy finish etc .... I've not had anything on steels for 20 years though 🙂

They seemed to have made £20-£27k in euro auctions I thought Dobsons where a bit covid prices will see if they hold out. Appreciate difference between auction and dealer machines.

we have the SAS training camp a few miles away and their choppers of all shapes and sizes are buzzing around here 24/7, even more so after dark. As said, by the time you hear them here, they're overhead and gone, when low.
