The final comb few hrs still more to do, the other piles sifted and different operations over the last few months, I'm guessing around 250 to 300 ton moved at present only sent about 40t off site, concrete etc

Finally got splay surfaced today

Moved some of the big rocks we’d left in the weeds you 7.5 ton boys would struggle with them . Made the 16 ton nod.

I did, highways inspector turned up said other highways guy was a fecking idiot and only got the job because his wife’s brother was the big boss. I told him I’d spent an hour trying to talk him rd but wouldn’t have it. He said he’s an idiot do it the way you wanted I’ll pass it.

Idiot guy had insisted on this stupid kerb across footway because it was on drawing I cut it out after speaking to the old experienced Clark of works

Unfortunately most the council blokes seem the same. Current job thy don't understand that thy cannot have the splay at a shallow angle, the pipe layed at a fall and the gully constructed as per the drawings. If we make the splay steeper cars will ground out. And the main carrier pipe is 40ft away and only 150mm lower than final tarmac level.
Thy also don't understand that all the drainage is an utter waste of time as thy insist on the kerbs being laid inverted with no drip line to catch the flow and direct it towards the gully. It's just going to flow into the property regardless. But we still have to install the gully as they can't let highway water go onto private property. Even though the gully won't catch anything as their is no drip line on the kerbs. How they get these jobs is beyond me.

Is it not still a bit of a cats ar*e with the footpath running continuous right across the junction I mean technically its not legal to drive across it.

I know what you're saying and I'm not knocking what you've done but when you've got a splay that width it's more like a junction than drop kerb for a driveway.

After the last set of highway code changes it no longer matters as regardless of kerb lay out the pedestrians have right of way. And the vehicles should let them past. The delineation kerbs are only really important if you need a drip line to stop water flow.
Also most councils now want to see tactile paving if you have cross pavement kerbs. And as that on a corner you can't lay tactiles. Or would need enough room to install a centre island

know where you're coming from, but as it is, it at least denotes it's a private driveway and NOT a public road
