Last time I did my 180 test the forks didn’t form part of it whatsoever, very poor. It’s not the fault of the backhoe, it’s just terrible operators!

Tbh that's the same for every test. Absolutely amazes me the things that are left out of the training. Even the blokes that come in off the super expensive 2 week courses arnt taught bugger all.

cant see the back end would lift much with forks on maybe ok static with legs down but moving about fetch and carry cant see much being lifted and moved at all. never seen forks on the back of a jake.

I could carry a dumpy, with the front bucket opened up and stretched out and my jakie was 2WD

End of the day a backhoe isn't a forklift. Forks are just a handy thing to have for the right instance. If your spending a day moving pallets just get a forklift or a teleporter.

I was told the forks on a jake were for use in the job the machine was doing like moving pipes kerbs etc, not for loading stuff on scaffold etc, they could be a blessing or pain in the arris, I hated moving full packs of 6 or 9 inch clay pipes as they were way higher than forks and heavy with it.

Do you mean short fat person by dumpy, just having a 3ft bucket reversed and full of concrete would get the front lifting on uneven ground if moving around I found.
