DVSA changes to driver hours record keeping

Don't know if anyone has seen this but the DVSA changed the rules in 2020 and are now enforcing that all drivers under EU rules must be able to show all activities for the last 28 days when stopped, even if you haven't been driving. This means if you drive occasionally you still have to record all other work undertaken, sick time and even holidays for the previous 28 days. Gaps in records are no longer acceptable. A diary entry or log book will not be compliant and records must be recorded on a Tacho chart , digital card or print out only.

Quite honestly lorry drivers need to strike
The rules they are putting in place and the ridiculous levels of enforcement are doing no favours to anyone.
What benefit does it provide to anyone enforcing this.
And they are clearly made by those without a clue.

Because they have control and know exactly your movements when they want it. Especially if it is done electronically, basically an electronic tag

Its a pain in the bum for me.
I might do one or two tacho days in a month.
All in non tacho vehicles or no vehicle at all so cant even log it as its done.
Having to do so many manual entries nearly always ends up with errors of some kind.
I hope they bring out a way of doing it on the laptop via a card reader.

That would surely come under the exemption if that is what yo are running under.

You still have to comply with the GB regs even if tacho exempt.
Plus the working hours regulations.

There are still plenty of exemptions that are useful for those using a lorry to carry there own use digger.

You can do it all in the tacho head no reason to do printouts I agree it's a nuisance. I drive a lorry once in a blue moon now so will invariably forget to do it. Further reason to not drive one atall

Not if you are driving under the exemptions. Pretty pointless having exemptions if you still have to record your hours!!

Your exempt from EU driving rules, but have to comply with GB domestic, which needs a record kept, if the vehicle is on an O licence

Still going to argue one. I can use an O licence vehicle for an exempt purpose and I don’t need to keep any records. The O licence is for carriage of goods. If you are using it for an exempt purpose you don’t need to record.
