Now't beats the Stiga as a weapon. Best mower I've ever had, and I've had a few too many in my time.

Hope you have someone good to service it as they can be a pig for some repair jobs. Just after replacing a 700mm forward / reverse drive cable. £75 for the frigging cable, and two evenings cursing the engineers who only gave clearance for pixies to get it routed and clamps tightened.

When I was under it discovered that the hydraulic pump drive belt has stretched to the end of its adjustment. New one awaits, it's going to need the axle dropped to get the old out and new one in.

A pal of mine does landscape gardening and he runs 2 off them . He says the same . Best kit out there but need well maintained and can be hard to work on

it is quite remarkable where those Stigas will go Vin .... the job over at the lake for Alex in '17 had one and I could not believe the banks it'd go up .. and mow!!

Yeah but you need a machine really to feed it. So end up two vehicles up. Hand feeding machines that size is a pointless exercise in hurting your back. Even an 8 inch forst takes limbs bigger than is practical to move around.
My mate has a big bandit and I keep pointing him in the direction of the daf grab lorry on ebay with rear crane and side tip body. Would make one hell of a pairing

Crane fed chippers (at the smaller end of the scale like these) aren’t as good as machine fed IMO - you can’t see what you are doing, they need constant repositioning, you have to stand somewhere (out of harm’s way) to operate them, and they are heavy, expensive one-trick-ponies. But I agree that hand feeding this size machine is a pointless exercise, and concede that moving two machines is obviously double the hassle.

I’m looking at getting a truck (and subsequently developing a Yorkie addiction, honing my prostitute-murdering skills, and shaving 100 off my IQ…) as we do quite a few 1-2 day jobs all over the place. Ideally I’d stick the 6 tonner and a decent sized chipper on the back and be in and out of jobs on my own in a day - this work tends to not warrant stockpiling the arisings for biomass (which we tend to farm out on the bigger clearances) and running in a different way would save a great deal on travel and labour. I’ll probably go down the tracked-chipper route but wanted to see what this unit is capable of - it’s a good match to the 2.7 tonner in fairness, and would do the necessary with the 6 tonner too.

Have you seen greenwoods on faceache and Instagram.
Very similar work to yours. Running a 4x4 18t iveco hookloader with drawbar. They have that size chipper to go behind it with machine on back then chip into body. Or a low loader with 13t machine on. Quite an impressive setup. Although tracked remote control is definitely the way forwards otherwise you just end up in and out shuffling kit around. Also those chippers don't like going off-road. Far to much weight on wet ground

I haven’t, but will have a look. Whatever we go for will end up being off-road capable!

No not due to rain,washing plant putting through massive amount n water also being pumped in,had a few small showers just as well cos ground turns to shte was bad enough digging tracks out,been mostly dry round here
