My dad was a motor trader, sadly we lost him at the beginning of May. He had a Honda franchise but always dealt in ‘big’ cars as well - loads of Porsches, Mercs, BMWs etc. His business partner pulled this pic of him from the 70s out of some old photos to show me the other day - cool bastardo my dad was!

he was the 'kiddie' with that MB
that was an unusual one with Alloys on a '76 R plate .. were mostly steelies with S/steel trims .. for some reason all the choccy brown cars rotted like pigs very quickly ... haven't seen a brown one in decades ... then the Sahara Golds were a close second ... constantly regret selling my last Vitesse ... rising daily and it was a tidy shell

not quite ... never owned a brown one ... rotted before your eyes, so stayed well clear.
only know for one example round here ... a silver V8S with the ubiquitous 'mustard' trim ... belonged to a good friend, 15 years older than me and sadly long gone ... I believe his son still has it locked up in a garage ... if anyone could buy it, it'd be me ... we both loved 'em and Herby's son knows that ...... hmmmmmmm   ...... a very under-rated motor, that I have had dozens of ... loved them .. pretty sure @Routy56 would agree

28mpg driven sensibly ... 18 used in anger .... still got enough kit/gear here to gas one of Mr Rover's finest and an SD'd go very nicely on propane, 'specially at 80ish pence a litre .................. she'd go bat s**t if I brought Herby's home :giggle: T&T exempt now too on a V plate :giggle::giggle::giggle: ... make a lovely runaround/tow barge  (y)

that thought crossed my mind too .. equivalent of 50-60mpg, £ for £ on LPG ... , but Pam'd get that down to high 30s with a V8 under her right foot
:ROFLMAO: ... Might make a point of going to see Martin, Herby's son, next time I'm in Aber and maybe sowing a seed:unsure:

Just watched the McMurty Spierman do it’s run. Amazing. So were the electric Porsche and Transit.
IIRC some one posted a Pike's Peak run for a leccymobile a while back .... that was impressive too

Yeah, a Dino. Apparently they bought/sold 30-40 of them over the years!
We had two Ferrari 328 GTS’s in bits in a garage at home for a few years (I seem to remember they were F reg) that were being converted from left to right hand drive by a specialist in Manchester who out of the blue got sent to prison for something totally unrelated (arms dealing to Iran iirc!)… They sat in pieces at home until he was released and could finish the work!
I grew up surrounded by fast cars, used to ask dad to take me to school in normal stuff as everyone used to cheer/take the piss etc when I was dropped off in the mornings.
I do love cars but most stuff leaves me a bit cold now - so much status/big dick/gratuitous show of wealth around nowadays unfortunately. The 275 in @Lynchy’s first post is the bollox though!
