And by then you might as well get a readymix in!

I really think my road towable hand loaded mixer is the best compromise for small batches. You could load it with a mini digger, but as the bloke on the shovel is also getting the mix right it just seems pointless.

That’s fine on tarmac jobs near the road but the small wheels low ground clearance don’t travel over rough or soft ground, nearly ripped axle off my pan mixer or they bounce Rd and try fall over.

We ended up mounting it on track dumper so for remote jobs you can see the benefit of the cormidi etc

Bit of a odd job. Loads of short 5m × 220mm trenches miles away from bedding sand tip area.
Width of access is not a problem but expensive glass panels either end of the trench to dig up to/ under.

Yeah, roughly 500 m of trenching so far. The hour clocks going up surprisingly quickly.

Why would you be trying to load a site dumper with a micro though? They pair with track barrows for the work they are designed for.

Or a mini loader!

1t is manageable off the deck anything bigger needs the micro sat on a pile. Very rare load anything bigger than the tracked dumpers. Have loaded a 5t dumper a few times but only as it was there and less hassle than loading the tipper trailer and struggling to get down to where it needs to go

reliable labour has been an issue for years though and is only likely to get much worse and really doesn't help when it's a two or more man job ... makes life even harder than it already is to earn a living

5 adverts either no interest or on the indeed site mostly with zero experience or just useless.
One guy managed two days then slept in on the third and didn't bother messaging till nearly 7pm, second guy did a day then had 24 hour sickness from his kid, who was well enough to be childcare that day, agency lad was a no show another local to the job agency wants over £20 per hour plus vat for someone to help with a little hand digging

I just don’t bother, I have my Mrs on the dumper & Lazer when I need and now I’ve the 14ton dumper it’s no bother jumping between that and the machine as you soon shift some muck without a dedicated driver! Everything else is subbed out to individual trades as and when.. means I can have time off without keeping someone else busy etc

I prefer jumping between machines all day rather than staying put, it's not like you can do anything whilst waiting. Just have to be extra careful not to hit your head on the cab.

Everyone I've spoken says the same no matter what industry. But then I can't understand why when in reality a lot of these jobs are quite well paid for what they are and can have quite a sense of job satisfaction.
I don't understand why we have the strikes at the moment when if they are that unhappy they could walk into a new job tomorrow.
I also see constant social media posts by my generation about being skint and the concept of owning there own home being nothing but a dream.
When if they actually put the effort in it is possible

Job satisfaction try finding anyone now who gives a flying f*** about the quality of the work they are doing whatever the task might be. Only there to get paid and thats never enough.

I work with a lot of blokes who take pride in there work. Are overly critical of themselves and constantly try to improve.
And there are plenty of things that you can take satisfaction from in this job. I bet everyone on here has got pictures on there phone of work they are proud of. Be it a particularly well dug set of footings to a nice finish on a concrete pad. We see these photos everyday. I bet Tesco employees don't have reems of photos of neatly stacked shelves. Train cleaners pictures of litter free carriages. Not saying the job is worth less atall but by comparison our work is easier to take job satisfaction from.
This probably applies more to those working for small firms. I can't see house bashing on big development sites being fun in anyway.

I suppose there is also the outlook on life aswell. I spend 5-6days a week at work so I may aswell put some effort in try to leave some work to be proud of or atleast just enjoy some of it.
And at the very least I get to be outside. And it doesn't matter the weather I am always happier being outside than in.
I don't even like cabbed machines as I feel hemmed in

Been on this job all week and lots more to go yet everything that's the ground around this property has to be covered in a membrane as site has been tested and is contaminated with heavy metals from near by historic mining
Any areas that are to be soil for garden or planter have to be reduced 600mm membrane layed 100mm of chippings then 500mm of soil placed
Any areas that have trees are being left and dug around the root zone and membrane layed over and 100mm of soil placed on top
All other areas like patios paths and the drive have to be reduced to 300mm before membrane and hardcore replacement to finished levels
The bit in the pictures is probably the hardest as it's a mixture of all the different ways of doing it and can only do as much as I can reach at a time with 5t

With the cover everything in plastic then certified materials plus the actual paving and drive think the landscaper said close to quarter million for the landscaping and the house has just been built as well
