Sat down to this last night

Currently at Sabine Schmitz hotel st the Nuremberg ring, nothing flash but supposedly do a good steak (she drove the transit around in top gear ifnou remember)

Can confirm very good, given to you on a 500 degree stone because the chef can’t be bothered to cook it himself 😂

Ate steak and got suntan at the same time, well recommended if you ever get a chance to try somthing like this

Did give it a few mins each side . Great quality bit of meat

Started to get right into F1 lately, would love to go see a race but feel like you would miss so much of the action.

It’s great we have been to spa for 7 years in a row and it’s a great crack but you don’t go for the racing sadly you go for the trip the camping the like minded people you meet and the atmosphere it’s s brilliant experience but your better watching it at home

used to go to Le Mans 24hr every year through the '80s:) .... what a weekend ... hop on the bike friday night after work ...... overnight boat from Pompy ... breakfast in Allencon and pick up our tickets from the Club de L'Ouest office there .... Carrefour hit 'en route' to the circuit and there for the kick off at 2 pm .:giggle:
Spend the next 24 hrs watching the racing and generally having a great time, round all the stands, funfair, etc. ... the night time racing was the best .. walk about 50+ miles over the weekend round the circuit .....
stand beside the Mullsanne straight and watch cars coming past at way over 200mph, flat out
... Mr Bell losing it and doing his tumbleweed impression for 3 miles in his survival cell, in IIRC '84 knackered that a bit .... couldn't get so close the following year :( ... the days of the Jags, Astons, huge Mercs ... all running straight pipes and 6+ ltr motors ...... ****ing awesome .... stopped going when they stopped running the big capacity stuff ... :(
back on the boat Sunday night and home in time for work Monday morning ..... just

We were there :giggle::giggle:

Snap mr Druid i went down to Le Mans in 83, 84, 87 & 88 as i am a big Porsche fan and i even have a Rothmans tail sticker from the winning car in 1987 (dont ask how i got it) but it did peel off easily lol! It's in my cabinet with my group C model car collection. Le Mans was at it's greatest in the 80's with the group C cars and no chicanes on the Mulsanne straight, i remember the little Peugeot WM, went through the speed trap at either 248 or 251 mph i cant remember which it was but it was pretty incredible for a privateer team. Then the Jags came along but i still stayed with Porsche those ground effect cars were just awsome. Happy days indeed.

You mentiond the Mercs in 86, 87 Sponsered by Kuros and entered by Peter Sauber and one of them driven by someone i knew, I actually bought his Jensen Interceptor from him and used to know his family they were lovely people and i spent a fair bit of time in some stunning sports cars that his father bought and sold.

aye .... awesome times :):) ... you'll remember the hairs on yer arms standing to attention as the Kouros Mercs and the Aston'd come thundering through the pit straight too then :);) ... indescribable sound

when the group Cs stopped running, we stopped going :( ..... the likes of that Mazda Wankel 'hair drier' screaming around the track just didn't cut it .... even though you could hear it just about all the way round the circuit  ..... thinking about the post about Derek Bell and the epic smash, flat out, on Mulsanne .... it wasn't him, I don't think, but damned if I can recall who, or what it was, but he walked away from it, which was some testimony to the survival pods in those cars :cool: ... must've been a hell of a 3 mile ride though :eek:

you lucky bugger .... always fancied an interceptor too .... looked at a few locally, years ago, but all in need of major TLC :( ... Have a friend who still has one, but rarely sees the light of day

Yep if it was in 87 i think it was the American Price Cobb that destroyed the 3rd Works porsche 962 in qualifying, That was the year Porsche also entered their 961 4wd car which would become the 959 road car. My friend drove the Kuros merc in 1986 and 87 prior to thst in 85 he drove the Kreymer Porsche the following year of 86 that Kreymer car left the road and got launched into the trees at about 180mph Jo Gartner was killed. 85 & 86 were not good years with the fastest 956 driver Stefon Belloff was killed at Spa. The rumour was that the Kouros Merc produced near to 1000 bhp with the wick turned up, all i know is it was the best sounding group c car i have ever hear even better than a V12 Jag! in 1988 we drove down to the bar on the mulsanne straight where everyone with a sports car went to on the Friday, i was standing at the bar getting them in as usual! When i turned round Hans Stuck (works Porsche driver) was standing right behind me, i had a we are not worthy moment lol, But he was a really nice chap and he came outside and chatted Porsche 962 and PDK gearboxes etc with me for a good 10-15 mins that was real privilage for a Porsche enthusiast and something that i will never forget.
my mates were dumfounded. You can still see the Group C cars race in the Group C revival series the do a couple of races in the UK and several overseas i watched them at Brands Hatch 3 years ago. The Jensen was thirsty it only did 10mpg but it was nice but it was like a boat compared to a 911.

incident I was thinking of was middle of the night during the race

Think 'a bit agricultural' would best sum them up .... probably summat to do with their Dai Brown heritage :giggle::giggle:

as said .... when group C went .... we didn't  .... 'twas what we all went to see and listen to :cool: ..... plus the run down and back was always great sport (y) ... lots of 'exotica' to 'play' with .... last time I went, was on my FJ1200 ... the Lambo Countach owners club were on the same boat ..... was a treat sitting in the car deck, watching them off ... and playing with them down to Allencon :D:D

That one was in 1987 Win Percy in one of the Jag XJR7 middle of the night on the mulsanne he had a tyre let go and he barrow rolled down the road and when it came to a halt he got out he was very lucky that Jag tub was awsome. We used to go fro Newhaven over to Dieppe and down to Alencon, always went down in a TR6 my mate still has his such a great car. I can tell you the problem with an interceptor its the rear leaf springs and a heavy right foot!! My P38 handles better. Happy days
