I wouldn't touch another Ranger personally, just had my 2008 trailered away to the export scrappers, 117k miles, engine solid, gearbox, 4wd all working fantastic but chassis rotten from bumper to bumper...I consider that "built in obsolescence". To be fair it's probably how most trucks are made nowadays!

To be fair it's probably how most trucks are made nowadays!

I don't think you can blame the chassis rotting out on built in obsolescence. Landrovers chassis have been rotting out prematurely for near 70 years
And the 08 plate rangers are good ones built in Thailand by Mazda.
The new Ford built ones don't hold a patch to them

At least you can galv a Defender chassis, then they end up outliving you, the chassis, not the rest of it I wonder how much it would cost for Ford etc to galv their chassis and get customers another several years out the damn things. I would only lease a pickup nowadays, that way I can hand the problem back to the company at the end of it.

My ‘09 tipper has rust appearing in various areas, can’t imagine it’s had much love prior to me owning it mind. They tend to be used and abused in the first few years of their life then it’s downhill

Yes surprisingly the loader was very handy just don't flick it fast otherwise you end up with material on you when there's not much on the shovel

They were abit tippy over. And the mast restricted you on height.

Sort of. The idea is generators are more efficient run under load, so any spare power is syphoned off into the batteries then the diesel engine shuts down and you draw down the battery power, then repeat.
