The 'Today's Job' thread

Started a new job today, full garden dig out and make over. First job clear all trees and bushes out. Perfect job for the grapple.
Gaining 4m of garden in places by removing bushes. Pity to have to take the proper trees down, just glad there’s no nests in them.

Yeah taking bushes and trees out this time of year is not good for wildlife. I always wonder if other folks are like me and try not to disturb the wildlife Too much.

I agree. Our job can be pretty destructive by nature but I always try to do what I can to limit it- advise customer to do it at another time of year when birds aren't nesting, always get out the cab to relocate toads etc. I know not everyone bothers but makes me feel better showing a bit of compassion

Yea try and not disturb wildlife too much, doesn’t sit well with me harming wildlife.

Had a little job round corner from home to go look at tonight so decided to turn it into a 9 mile loop on e bike. Job of no interest but ...........

would depend entirely on the rate ..... crane driving can be similar .. can sit for hours - do a bit - sit again .. read or learn to sleep anywhere ... 30 & 45 Grove bonnets were 7' 6" long x 30" wide ... perfect bed if it was dry

Yeah same as rail job,seen us sit all shift,least here no one to bother me,watch the ducks n other birds,chat on phone,watch Utube day flies in,plus 20 mins from home saves time n diesel

Thanks, yeah a lot of work in it, didn't help client changed the foundation detail which caused issues with the drainage and steel work

Exactly right. Crazy amount of work built on clay 10m from a reen

To form the rebated slab detail could have done in brick / block but would have meant 3 pours instead of 2, plus was worried that green brickwork wouldn't hold weight of the concrete
