Conventional tail swing minis

That's interesting. The 27D looks to me to have a considerably shorter tail then the 27 C. The 27c looks the closest thing to what I have currently which is why it appeals but means buying used
The 27d is basically a ecr25d moved back 300mm on the slew ring, slightly bigger rams and slightly increased pump output i think, the 27c is probably a better bet if you could find a clean one, think the weights just about the same.
I think the 27d is a good compromise between zero tail swing and full conventional tail very similar to the E27 Bobcat although the Bobcat has a bit larger engine i believe.

Spent a few days on a 225. It's wild! Bloody quick machine. But lacking in breakout force. The machine I had struggled to curl a bucket through a pile of rubble.
I had a brief play on one at a Rototilt demo day and found the same, when you reduced the revs to make it controllable it became gutless, strange how a manufacturer can produce something as good as the tb125 and then get it all wrong?

Not really the right comparison though, the tb230 is the 125 (and since then 228) replacement.

I wasn't really comparing them like for like, just seems odd that Takeuchi have a reputation for producing very smooth controllable machines, love my 280fr, but see to have got something wrong with the 225, maybe they have been tweaked now ?

Have you used a TB230 much? I must get one on hire one day.
I used one last year for a few days was decent, lots of power. From what I can remember not the fastest boom/dipper speed but a good machine.
Was on a kx060 today found it quite noddy and does not like tracking and using any levers. If you have your feet on the pedals the slightest bit of pressure and power is lost to the levers

Sounds exactly like the 8t then in the flow sharing department....although its not a deal breaker its a shame as I thought they had sorted it.
I will find it hard to look past Kubota though next time though as apart from the tracking motor problem that 8t has been faultless for 6 years.

Yeah I looked at the alumax 500kg ish I think at about 5k cost
Less than 80kg payload difference to the gh1054bt but a good 1k plus saving to buy the ifor
If you do go for an ifor don't waste your time opting the 1.2m skids. They are crap barely a 10kg saving over the 1.45m skids and the damn roll bars are nowhere close to the floor when unloading so the rear of the tow vehicle rises when you track off. I did contact ifor Williams but they seemed to not give a crap after the initial emails, saying there had been a design revision but not confirming if I had been sent the right ones. Chased it up twice since and no replies

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
That's helpful thanks. I hadn't considered tapping in to the offset- can you get electric diverter so I could use horn or something to switch the service in the cab. I'd use the pedal over the button on the joystick because you have feel with a pedal that you don't with the button.
dual pole dual throw switch would change your leccy control over from horn to 6 x 2 solenoid, with a bit of leccy spaghetti to do the necessary ;)

Sorry only getting to reply now........ hectic week

would you care to be a little more defined on the conversion cost Aiden? ...
how does it work? ... changes solenoids from on/off to full prop. solenoids with control system?? or a complete valve change and driver

Definitely would be keen to know more about this?!👍👍

It depends on the joystick option etc put cost wise about £800-£1K

So think Ive narrowed down to final 3 choices for my new 2.6 tonner. This will replace my tb216, but will keep my current 2.8tonner for a while longer yet, Im thinking 1.8t are too small for my line of work really and will get far more use running another 2.6t. any one running any of the below , feedback most welcome. Deffo want it to be under the 3500kg on the trailer this time so the 2.8t options are not an option and having the 8 tonner now I don't need every last scrap of reach etc.

Wacker neuson EZ26- downside is zero tail, fairly major downside tbh.
Yanmar SV26- downside does not offset properly to the left,
Volvo EC27d- plastic panels puts me off but otherwise probably my preferred choice .

Wacker and Volvo both small engines (1.1l) but from what I hear both perform pretty well.

Better add my opinion of the Volvo ec27d, Plastic panels are tougher than you would think, although my occasional operator has managed to put a small crack in one, some people can damage anything, and i think its no harder to repair than knocking out and repainting a steel panel.
Volvo spec sheet says 2655 kg transport weigh + 12 kg for long dipper option, + 100 kg for additional counterweight which may or may not be needed, i have it with additional weight of tiltrotator at the other end its well balanced. (200mm wide track option saves 75kg according to spec sheet ?)
1.1 engine ? it does seem to work hard sometimes, maybe in a ideal world it would have the larger Engine that bobcat runs but wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
Has a slightly larger pump output than the ecr25d Volvo and considerably better lifting abilities, although it looks very similar it a very different machine i find.
Early versions had a reputation for poor grading ability which was resolved with a revision to the valve block at some point.

I had a WN 28z3 (previous model to the EZ26 and not much different i think) before the Volvo, If i really needed a zero tail swing machine, i do miss it sometimes, i think the EZ26 would be top of the list, the side mounted engine has great access, pins and bushes seemed higher spec. than a lot of machines and nice to operate in general.
Hope this helps. (y)
