do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
May I be the first to suggest ce tops
a perfectly functional solution to the problem, but if you have a single two way aux a 6x2 change over'd be even easier ... the cetop only needs a single acting service but few of those are prop.

The problem is the aux service on my Tak is a non proportional affair. Just a button on the joystick that gives it all or nothing. The thumb I have to pulse to stop it being so erratic (or close it when trackin!). Tried flow restrictors- they slow it down. But pump is then straining.
It's all beside the point anyway- because at the end of the day I want a new machine. Partly to reduce tax burden but also something that will do me 10 years or so of good reliable service.
@doobin. I would have been up for giving Bobcat a try although has to be said I'm hereing alot of people complaint of minor gremlins with bobcat which I don't like the sound of (Have experienced it with Doosan too) but the nearest dealer is Oxford I think and I asked for a price but no reply so not a good start really .

have you considered a 6x2 diverter sharing your off set service to feed the thumb ??
have you tried an adjustabe flow restrictor which dumps excess to tank, rather than just throttling the flow .. not that dear and wouldn't load your pump, like a throttle restrictor does .......... Flowfit do them

I know your looking for a new machine anyway, but just to note, we can supply a conversion Kit to suit for not a huge fortune!
would you care to be a little more defined on the conversion cost Aiden? ...
how does it work? ... changes solenoids from on/off to full prop. solenoids with control system?? or a complete valve change and driver

If you can find a 3.5 ton plant trailer made out of titanium/carbon fibre buy a tb230
Yeah I can't help think of Tak had skimmed 100kg or whatever off the TB230 they'd sell more. Surely if your going to rely on a lorry to move it anywhere you'll just end up buying a bigger machine. They sell loads so I suppose someone is buying them but not to the towable 2.8t market.
I did think of the alumax trailer or an ifor 10x6 flatbed stripped bare but will still be pretty tight. The TB125 is overweight anyway with thumb, hitch and bucket etc. If using pickup it's not so bad as everything can go in the pickup and just tow digger bare.

That's helpful thanks. I hadn't considered tapping in to the offset- can you get electric diverter so I could use horn or something to switch the service in the cab. I'd use the pedal over the button on the joystick because you have feel with a pedal that you don't with the button.

I just thing a lot of folk don't worry about being over weight a bit. Daft thing is standard spec is short dipper and lighter counterweight and plenty light enough to tow but UK spec is long dipper and bigger weight

That's what I fancy i think without a bucket on it is borderline doable
Tb230 is too heavy, I'm sure they are just over 3t. Have seen mixed reviews on the tb225 it's around 2.4t maybe less but from what have seen seems to be more a 2t-2.5t class rather than near 3t like your tb125.

Yeah I looked at the alumax 500kg ish I think at about 5k cost

Back to this thread again. I'm still on the look out to replace my TB125. I've had it 5 years 2500hrs and not a single thing gone wrong except a new set of tracks. But it is not compatible with the grab I want to get and therefore will either be relegated to 'rough work only machine' or ideally replaced. Im finding it extremely difficult to come up with something to replace it with. It absolutely has to be full rear end counterweight- I push it to it's max on tricky terrain and handling boulders so I know that zero or compact isn't what I want.
Rory and @Hg2702 have both warned me off Kubota from their experiences although haven't tried myself.
I wanted to buy new (bobcat never got back to me and are miles away anyway) so forget them, Jcb is probably the only one ticking the boxes at the mo. Only trouble is Im not into the looks of it at all😂
Latest thoughts is a very low houred Volvo EC27C I know of for sale which could be a contender... Any one had much seat time in one?

This is a daily scenario for the Tak and the last one I had lasted 5000 hrs before the slew ring was shot so dont know how long current one will go on for.
I run a EC27d Volvo with a Rototilt R1, short dipper option and extra counterweight, good stability, and lifting ability, completely different machine from the zero tail swing ECR 25d i had before but borderline towable.
Always found Volvo mini's well built and reliable, had several older EC25's over the years, usually changed them at about 3500/4000hrs. but not a 27c although heard plenty of good things about them, seem to be popular with timber handling ,i would certainly consider one with low hours if the price was right.

What about the yanmar has that been discussed before. They have a full size back end.
I hired one for a week. Not a bad machine aside from lack of offset boom (only 45 degrees to the right and if I wasn't into max handling tasks I'd definitely consider but I really noticed how easily it lifted a track over the side compared with my TB125 despite the track frame being wider. I suppose a good counterweight would help but then it brings it up to same weight all over so thought I'd just be best going for the biggest machine I can get on a trailer

That's interesting. The 27D looks to me to have a considerably shorter tail then the 27 C. The 27c looks the closest thing to what I have currently which is why it appeals but means buying used

JCB suffers from a lack of boom swing, to the point where it won't dig inline with either track, bit of a shitter but only niggle, unless you want rollers on the joysticks

Spent a few days on a 225. It's wild! Bloody quick machine. But lacking in breakout force. The machine I had struggled to curl a bucket through a pile of rubble.
