Been working at a nice house this week. Have a yard with all sorts of machines and vehicles parked up. Just an elderly lady lives there now the husband died few years ago. Asked her if she wants to sell this she has got to run it by her sons but she would like the stuff gone. Be ok for me for the odd bits I would want it for. Has a lovely American jeep in the garage think the husband fully restored it before he passed away it looks mint.

The thought of my wife selling all my stuff when I am dead gives me the fear.

I’ve genuinely said to my girlfriend if anything happens to me dont just sell it off to the vultures cheap! 🤣
It's ok we'll take care of any collections that need disposing of...just make sure they can post in the back room and we'll head down 😈😈

Jokes asides it's not fun going through stuff...
Absolutely lost it when I opened a drawer at dad's the other week with all his original joinery hand tools laid out ...played with em as a kid he served his time with em. Yankees etc 😥😥😥

have said before ..... we have spread sheets -- what I gave and what it's worth -- rarely get much complaint and she's happy to have an idea of what stuff is worth, come the inevitable
ought to sit down and have an update some time ... soon ... amazing how stuff 'trickles in':giggle:

yeh - have had quite a few bargains lately and it's a while since we did an 'update'
really ought to start serial numbering some of the smaller tooling stuff .... got some expensive bits, that came for peanuts and'd hate to see it go the same way :(
latest 'bargain'll be in my thread later .. am over the moon with it :giggle::giggle:

My old man has everything in categorized draws and has started to put a note with name and value in each draw. He has tens of thousands of specialist lathe and milling machine tooling. On top of that he has a vast amount of stuff with little monetary value but very unique that should go to a collection. He has machined everything in his life from clock components to traction engine crankshafts and kept every bit of tooling.

Just be aware (and ensure your next of kin understand!) that probate value ‘needs to be’, and real-world cash-in value may unfortunately be lower than actual replacement value.
