What Oil in Iveco Eurocargo Tector 6-10t 2009

Went to get some oil today and was told I shouldnt be putting 10-40w into the Iveco and it should be a 5-30w something or other .... would be a shame not to be able to use the one oil for the lot like usual ...... is anyone running similar truck and using a 5-30w oil ?

my K plated Iveco six lunger, 7.5 tonner always got Shell Rimula X 10W40 and ran like a watch ... as did everything else in my 'fleet' of various cranes, FLTs, trucks, cars, bikes, mowers, etc. ... Jake and the 'Drema're similarly happy

With the advent of common rail engines, the days of using a 45 gallon drum of 10/40w for everything in the yard are over I'm afraid. Annoying, but there you go.

The right oil, changed regularly, is the best value preventative maintenance I've ever found.

Yep the shop (new place im trying) had a massive selection of oils for different applications and thats exactly what the bloke said (but in french )

agreed Doob .. a 'modern' engine is a far cry from diesels of old
