So been thinking, i might as well buy a plasma cutter. Can anyone recommend one. Cut about 10-15mm . Budget 200-300

would love to try one Dylan .. looks like an identical unit to what i've been using today ... layout-wise... 50A @ 60% is good if it will do it .... had the thing I was using cut out on 17A for half an hour
... PITA !! and that's a 30A rated thinggoing to need a good supply for it too
I will be surprised if it cuts 15mm, but STBC ...... if you are willing to take a punt ... you can but try it .. but I'd put a 32A plug on it straight off ... be a PITFA blowing 13A fuses all the time

I'd vote for R-tech if you can stretch the budget a bit, good machines with great after sales, which is deffo what you pay for.

It probably wont get used much. As for power i use my arc welder with no problems in my shed.

was gonna say .. haven't seen an SIP Weldmate in donkey's Dyl ..... did the job and weren't that cheap, in their day ... I've an old air cooled set that makes them look positively modern ... smaller, but too heavy to pick up on yer own .. was/is a great set .... just not that portable .... i'd give you a pic, but it's at the back of a box .. can't recall the breed for sure but might be a PickhillMy parents bought it for me when i was a teenager. I'm 50 now

Now that’s a welder DJ. Hope you never part with it. I blew up A bigger version a few years ago. Running at nearly max amps, the thermal overload didn’t work, next thing the fan was blowing flames out of the side, but I still managed to put another couple of runs down before it died. I had a Thermal Arc go up a few years later as well. Went off with a noise like a propane bird-scarer, not even working it particularly hard.
Thinking back my first welder was a 140 Amp SIP, built my first trailer with it. The seller gave me several packs of ESAB electrodes that were worth more than I paid for the welder. I boo-booed selling it. It’ll be on the go long after my inverter, as the thermal cut-out did work on it.

no Dylan .. the plasma you put up is pulling 27A at full chat .. that SIP'd pull maybe 15A ... they usually run happily off a 13A plug unless it's really wound up ... then you need to replace the fuse in the plug, with a bit of 6mm bar
