Trying to remove a large pulley

Hello all.
I have just bought this


And have removed the Lister petter engine to possibly replace it with another but am having problems removing this:
I think it is probably a centrifugal clutch and have got a very large puller on it but, even with masses of pressure it won't budge. Any ideas? I think perhaps I should apply heat but to which part and could that do harm?

The roller is a '70s Thomas Green and son who were taken over by Atkinson who were, in turn, absorbed by Seddon.

looks to be a morse taper lock, but can't see enough detail in the pic to tell for sure .... any chance of a pic square on to the face of it ?

good news if it is .... usually split and come off sweet as ...

Thanks for that. Peering down behind the pulley it looks the same thickness front and back.

Wild guess, but we’re the four holes on the central collar tapped to take forcing bolts to withdraw the tapered? collar?

unkess I'm mistaken but the 4 holes look to have a hex grub screws in them

They do indeed. 1/8th allen screws. The only one I have broke off in one of the screws so I'll have to get a new one that wasn't made in China.

plenty of squirt (Plus Gas, ideally) and an impact wrench, driving a good quality hex bit

I beg to differ- personally, I've always found allen key fittings that small to be liable to strip the heads if you use an impact driver. Gentle torque on a quality allen key.

I'll not argue with that either Doob ....
at that size they're a bitch to free if seized ...
can always drive a good quality over size 6 star torx into 'em if they round off either when they show signs of doing so or before they do if they don't wanna budge ....
it's a small drive really when they're in good nick ...
rusted and seized is lap of the gods territory
being 12.9s they're a sod to drill out too

I've ordered some plus gas and will use plenty of that or, if that doesn't work stand it up in a bucket of diesel for a day or two.

Would a bit of heat help to undo them?

don't warm the grub screws at all .... it will anneal them, soften the hex drive and they'll just round off ..... putting a straight drive hex into them and giving them some hard knocks will shock the rust in the threads .... pity they'm not a bit bigger

if they don't come out and wreck the hexes ..... then it's time to anneal them to drill them

I've found those backwards cutting drills to be good at removing stuff like that. The bolt/ grub screw normally winds out before you go too big and bigger up the threads.

wouldn't surprise me .... 3mm drill in the dots and take them out to a dimple to free them up
