I’m tempted if the price has come down on them, last time I asked they were 23k. They should be more reliable and nicer to work with, If someone’s using a micro for five or six solid hours without turning off it’s probably the wrong tool for the job. Can you post a link for the offer up, I can’t find it online

Can't see how they are doing them for £99 a month. Has to be a long term hire thing, or most likely someone wrote month rather than week.

It's still no use for anything but basement excavations or indoors work. As for more reliable- the Kubota diesel engine in them never goes wrong, and the rest of the machine will be the same! Imagine having to take it back to the yard and plug it in, or run a lead out overnight on site, rather than just put five litres of DERV in? Heck no.

Electric works for forklifts because they are often used indoors, and always parked up in the warehouse overnight next to the charger, plus they can have a huge weight of batteries as it's useful (counterweight) It works for some electric cars because again, they return to base with a charger (parked at home), and the 'job' (ie. driving 140 miles) would normally take half a day and use ten litres of diesel otherwise. It simply doesn't work for site machinery except in very limited circumstances that require zero emmisions. Ten litres of diesel is gone in three hours in a 2.7t machine and it's still got to operate the rest of the day whilst having less space for batteries than a Nissan Leaf!

I’ve got a brain, it would work for all of our jobs. Rarely put more than 2 running hours in a day and take it home on a night.
I’ve had 4 call outs to Lloyds to replace an alternator belt though. I don’t want to take spanner’s to it whilst it’s under warranty or when something happens it’ll be because I swapped the belts..every time it’s happened it’s been a complete nightmare trying to get someone out.
Would like to replace the tracked dumper with an electric too if price comes down to sensible level.
Looked at it on the compact loader and that wouldn’t work as batteries only do half a shift and loader does more hours than that usually. The rep suggested buying another battery pack..only another 8k
Do you regularly run your micro more than 5 hours a day for multiple days on same site?

Pon, the Scandinavian Cat dealer, have been converting 320’s to full electric power for some time now, so there’s a market somewhere. Won’t be greenies buying them, they don’t just want to stop burning diesel, they want to stop all industrial activity apart from basket weaving and making crack pipes.
