Telehandlers

I could really do with a telehandler to use around my yard. Predominantly it’s going to be used for pushing up the chip pile and loading Ag grain trailers and arctics with woodchip. it’ll also probably be used for picking up square bales with a flat 8 grab and moving bags of logs around as well
15k seems to be minimum spend without getting a complete dog but it’s still going to be 15-18 years old at that price
what machines would people be looking at in that price range

Matbro TR200 or TR250. Both pivot steer and absolutely brilliant farm type machines.

If you go and look at any older ex ag machines look for cracks at rear boom pivots or bent headstocks. I've seen a few in dealers yards that have obviously caught stanchions with bucket corners when mucking sheds out

Pivots are no good on woodchip if you have to load walking floors
Very slowly and with a tiny bucket they can load the smaller walking floors it's very slow as they have to be perfectly positioned but new ones they won't reach over the side this is even the case for brand new jcbs
The only thing is they can handle a toe tip to load the bigger ones but even on the smaller ones the tip linkage is very easy to catch the side of the trailer

Best value for money in that price range would be a 9 meter construction spec machine or an older loading shovel with a toe tip

Something like a jcb 535 95 of a construction site will be in far better condition than an Agri machine
The linkage on the three levers can be swapped if you pop the side panel of the cab to give Agri configuration which makes them surprisingly usable with a grab attachment

I bought a 2008 merlo 40/7 for £16500 plus vat - it’s amazingly strong.
They are out there, just keep looking!

You can go lower if you get a toe tip bucket but obviously they are heavy
Need atleast 3 tonne lift to handle one
They are far quicker than a conventional bucket

Not in the telehandler game...but mate I work with is on the hunt for nice spec ag for similar purposes with hitch and 30kph etc....sh*t do they hold their value.

Even the 250 would be fine all the time the normal lorries show up but there are a few Jumbo's running around that are huge
It is always possible you can put a slot in the ground for the trailer to park
I've loaded with a tractor loader like this before but not always practical and it's bloody slow
I can do a 27.5 tonnes with a 4tonne jcb in 17 minutes my mate can do it in a 416 shovel with toe tip in 15 minutes
A Manitou mla628 is over an hour
