Tarmac crack or joint filler?

Does anyone know what the kegs/cans of joint filler are called? It must be a bitumen based product, for crack and joint filling. I’ve used kegs of pitch before, like roofers use, but have seen people using stuff in tin cans, must be 25l cans, and you heat it in the can I think?

Anyone used it? Or know where to get it?

Is it for expansion joints? or just to repair cracks, if cracks we`ve used a product, made by a company called, sterling Lloyd, safetrack crack infill, I think it was. It wasn't bitumen based though, but a resin based product, it came in a 25litre size tins with removable lids, and a bag of powder, mixed it all up in the tin, then tipped straight out of the tin into a `shoe` like is used for road marking (white lines etc) and run along the crack to seal it.
It set in about 20/30minutes, we used it on dual carriageways, roundabouts etc.

It is for joints and cracks, mostly cracks! It’s a pain in the backside tbh, the place has been tarmaced over concrete, and not very sound concrete in places! Looked tidy when they did it, but looks like there’s been a mini earthquake now!

I believe the resin stuff was not cheap, its a 2 man job, once the activator power was mixed in, it was starting to cure, one to pour the tin and one to draw the shoe along.
The stuff was a grey/black/granite green colour, so wouldn't look to bad on a drive.

can't you just get the gas ring out and do it old skool with some pitch in a watering can James ?? Guaranteed to fill the cracks fully and bond well as long as it's dry

I did just that with cracks in the yard worked pretty good and had some flexibility in it for cold and hot weather , but took some time boiling up each watering can though with tar over concrete it would be better than a resin though as the concrete and tar will expand at different rates.

I think it will end up being done with tar/pitch, as we have done before. We have a tar pot, so it’s not a big deal.

We had just seen others doing it with stuff out of cans, and wondered if it was a better way? Don’t think it would have been resin based though?
