Guys

Been asked to strip off and dispose of about 20+ solar panels.

Customer has checked with the grid and they’re not interested.

Would they be any use to anyone? Pic attached showing rear elevation, there are several more on the front and others that we already removed from a lean-to.

Some switchgear in the loft too.

Based in Buckinghamshire.

Cheers
Stuart

I am interested but if Rory’s need is greater than mine I am out!!! I all ready have 4kw of PV on my roof and I am looking at what else I can do with it. Probably heading to my sons house but as there is no feed in tariff any more it would be a labour that won’t really bring in a benefit until the batteries become cheaper!

I'll let Brendan or Shaun take them. If no one else wants them and there being skipped however i'll grab them for my workshop.

Will get some more photos tomorrow/Monday

If of any use to anyone then I don’t want money for them just a donation of your choosing to a charity in memory of a colleague/mate who passed away this time last year

Would be an interesting project there. I wonder if the older installs lose efficiency at all?? There's bound to be more turning up as houses are altered / extended.(y)

Would be very happy to donate to my preferred cancer charity that provide mobile chemotherapy units to the NHS.

I think I am currently closer than Rory, Brendan or Druid. So I would be happy to pick them up and if I find they don’t have a use for me I would offer them back on here for no financial gain.

I'm in Northampton so only a short journey, if everything is there to install them and connect up would be great.

Thought about panels before but the shear cost always makes it a no go

I keep a monthly log of the units we generate and boy is sunshine variable!

i have 3.85 fitted about 8 years ago when the FIT scheme was free money. The installer at the time said to allow 15% degredation over 20 years. I still find no difference now on to be honest. I have a tesla powerwall and it logs everything which makes checking easy. More sunny days like last week, 25kwh per day generated and paid just over 50p a KWH is very nice !

You must be in an ideal south facing spot to generate 25kwh per day. We top out at about 15max as the panels don’t really get sun until 11am. Our tariff is a lot lower but I would also guess we spent less on the original instal. How do you find the power wall? I am still a bit sceptical about the lifespan of the battery packs so not yet convinced to take the plunge!!

one thing i did notice, when its real sunny and you get a shower it cools the panels and the performance goes through the roof, like 20% more generation instantly. Did make me think about setting up some sort of water trickle system to keep them cool.

The powerwall is great. I am on a time of day tariff so dirt cheap 10pm-6am, cheap 6am - 4pm, insane expensive 4pm-10pm.

So the powerwall takes all the solar in the day and stores it, in the summer the solar is more than enough. If its a crap day/winter then the powerwall charges itself on dirt cheap rate and then releases this during insane expensive tariff. Ive had it a year now and it covers 99.2% of the insane expensive tariff.

This has the effect of all your electric costing 4p kw/h instead of 19+.

The tesla chap told me their cars can act as powerwalls as well its just not activated yet. Powerwall is 14kwh a car is 80kwh+ so the advantages could be significant.

Electric is the future for sure just early days yet.
