Project 8 3CX stopping and starting.

That would be helpful @Mick-the-fitter. I have been getting confusing information from 2 suppliers today ! The machine VIN No is 412168. The date of 1st registration was 01/11/2003. I always thought that it was a Project 8 but I may be wrong about that. This is the best image I have of her. Hope it helps and thank you again for your help.

Good machines back in the day, probably last of the front dash. Mi old man had jcb come to see him while driving one when new and he'd said fantastic machine but how do you know if its over heating ect while working back actor. Afterwards the first side dash came out. Not saying he was pinical to it but was one thing he told them he thought was a good idea, I'm sure others would of pointed it out too.

Would you know if that is the correct solenoid for the injector pump on my machine ?

There is more than one pump used on most perkins engines - usually Lucas / CAV & Bosch. First you need to identify your pump.

My 3cx P8 has a 1004 fitted with a Lucas/CAV pump.

The P8 manual lists three different pumps depending on the AA/AB block and power output.

Something odd about that. Mine is 450xxx and rolled off the line in '97.

Have a look at your ID plate and see what letter you have in "Position E"

Could well of been road registered in 2003, could well of been supplied unregistered when new.

Places like power stations don't bother road registering trucks and machines as they know they will never leave the site.

Thanks @Gecko. I think mine is a CAV pump but I'll have a closer look if it ever stops raining today and I can venture out down to the workshop but in the meantime this is a photo. my VIN plate :

I always thought that the buzzer sounded when/if they overheated ?

They do but it's better to keep an eye on what's happening rather than waiting til a buzzer goes off.

I have been able to take some photos. of the injection pump today but it isn't easy since the digger frame and other things get in the way. Firstly this is an image of the plate on the pump :

Is it possible to tell from this which solenoid I need please ? Any help gratefully received. Thank you.
