Had never thought about that. Presume that you can still see the bubble clearly when the kingpost is at it's extreme L/R positions in the rails ? The position of my spirit level means that it's very easy to see the bubble.

The bullseye is only going to be any good if you can view it from directly above it. Your bubble will be much easier.

Yes, I thought that as well but I appreciated the comments from @V8Druid It just "feels right" to have the machine level in at least one direction (if you can)

agreed, but you set it up and just keep a check on it ... always worked fine on my JakieB ... cross frame level was easy enough by eye ... front to back not quite so easy ....
the one I have on the 'Drema is below the left of my seat and can glance at it frequently and easily ..... makes life so easy grading a large area, like my patch ... yer's level, where ever you're facing
