Perkins 1104C-44T with Delphi DP210 Injection Pump

Hello All, New to this site. Hoping someone might be able to help me. The Perkins on my JCB loader backhoe won't shut off. When I turn off the key, it goes into a very low idle, but won't shutdown unless I push on the throttle linkage. I've already replaced the fuel cutoff solenoid. I've read elsewhere that is could be the "latching valve". What does the latching valve do? Is this something that I can replace myself, or does it need to be done by a specialty shop that works on fuel injection pumps? Thank you. Cheers, Rich

Hi There and welcome to the forum, Yes it will be the latching valve, circled in red. It is easy to replace just screw out and screw the new one in. Just don't screw them in to tight, just nip it up as such. Its been a while since I did one, but I think they are about £25, Let me know if you need one and I can sort you out.

Hi Aiden, Thanks very much for the quick response! I appreciate your help - thank you. Would you happen to know how many latch valves are in this pump? Is it just one, or is there another one on the other side of the pump as well? I can't get to the "other side" of the pump - the side that is not shown in this diagram - so I'm not sure if its just one or two. Thank you, Rich

Hello All,

Just wanted to let everyone know that replacing the "latch valve" replace my engine run-on issue. The engine now turns off like it should. Much thanks to Aiden for his help in diagnosing!
